Spanish Civil War George attitude. I remain fuckable.

History tells us that if you don't beat Nazis at the ballot box, the time will come when you must beat them with a rifle butt.

🧵ICE cut off her wedding ring.

Sue Tincher is a 55-year-old US citizen, a grandmother, 5’4’, and white.

She walked to her neighbor’s house after getting alerts that ICE was nearby.

She stood across the street and asked an officer if they were ICE. They told her to “get back.” She didn’t move.

Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

Millions of Americans are about to see their healthcare costs skyrocket, and Republicans in Congress just let it happen. Extending ACA credits should've been the easiest decision in the world.

I think it’s a bummer that the GOP has decided it would rather eat the shit sandwich on health care than negotiate a bipartisan bill, but now it’s down to us to make them eat that sandwich.

Trump wins election by 1.5%: historic landslide, mandate achieved, special unitary executive powers unlocked

Trump's approval rating declines by 6 points to 36% after less than a year in office: meaningless noise, statistically insignificant, when you think about it what even ARE numbers anyway

Dear the media,

When the US president claims he brokered a peace deal in a place with active combat—eg Rwanda and Congo—the story is (1) fighting rages on, and (2) US president lies.

The story is not “president touts historic peace deal.” A peace deal involves peace.

Sincerely,

This is a really disturbing story on several levels and certainly anyone who interacts with the Pentagon specifically or the administration more generally should read it:
I asked the Pentagon about Pete Hegseth's mentor. Then the threats started.

Similar thing for me and the NICU.

Oh, my kid needs to be transferred within three hours to stay alive? Hold on, let me call around on Christmas Eve for the best price on a condition we haven’t even ID’d yet.

These people are deeply unserious.

Signed, another economist who generally likes markets
Reminds me of that time I needed emergency appendectomy & I was on morphine & the hospital billing guy came to my room to ask me to pay the copay upfront

I was like dude I’m going next door to check the other hospital‘s price also what’s my name again

Ps I’m an economist, ok w/markets generally
Roger Marshall: "We want patients to become consumers again. We want patients to see what the actual prices are. We believe that if we would add the price tags to this bill, that it would save the country a trillion dollars a year."

Couple of things here:

1. Trump says he took another cognitive test recently

2. In front of "large numbers of doctors and experts"

3. He called the examinations "long...and very boring"

4. If you're given 3 cognitive exams in one year by panels of doctors, something is VERY wrong with you
