Sometimes I wish I had a simpler life where I was a bartender at a place called "the mechanical room" and I got to ask my coworkers if they "turned the gears on yet"

The fact that the free market approach to health care has resulted in such extreme levels of tragedy has really scrambled people's brains that it cannot possibly be appropriate to supply other things
A fun thing about YIMBY dorks is that they are incapable of scrutinizing the hyper capitalist economic model that treats housing as a service that can only be solved via free market principles rather than a human right that may be at odds with endless profit and rent seeking
A fun thing about single stair is that when you ask people defending the status quo on safety grounds to make a judgment call about whether the small buildings that would be allowed under the proposed reforms are more dangerous than the big ones we currently allow they get mad and refuse to answer.

People somewhat reasonably assume that the rules governing our built environments are built on careful assessment of the best available science and rigorous analysis of tradeoffs but in reality it's like 85% vibes.

There are people driving around behind ICE honking their horns to warn people, and then there are the people in the replies too afraid to publicly say they went to a No Kings march
Take a picture of yourself at the No Kings rally.

Print it.

Put it in a frame.

Your grandchildren will speak about you for generations to come. You took a stand against fascism. You stood up for democracy.

It’s extremely funny because the online fringe can’t decide if No Kings is either a terrifying brush with death or a do-nothing wine mom fake protest, and it becomes kind of clear after a while they just feel angst about stuff happening in reality
the upshot of impressionable people seeing blowhards talk about attending a protest like they're Neil McCauley planning a heist is "oh wow going to those things is dangerous" which probably gets you off if you consider yourself a "professional" protestor but is Actually Bad Overall

Bass calling Los Angeles a "Pro Housing City" is another level of deranged
LA Mayor Karen Bass is requesting a veto on transit-oriented development bill SB 79, which is headed to Gavin Newsom's desk: "While SB 79 allows for local ordinances as an alternative compliance, it does not provide a viable path for a pro-housing city like Los Angeles"

We need to talk about oversized trucks and the aesthetic of fascism.
ICE used your taxpayer dollars to trick out a bunch of trucks in new livery, all painted black with "ICE" and a logo printed in gold on the side (and Trump's name in gold on the back window), then shoot a rap video in DC to post on social media.

I am not making this up.

Even if there were good candidates the machine of the Democratic Party is just a shell around a termite infestation of consulting firms
The annoying spam texts destroying the Democratic brand:

$678M raised through those spam tactics

$282M to one consulting firm: Mothership Strategies.

$11M to actual campaigns (1.6%)

The party isn’t just treating donors like marks—it’s being fleeced itself yet continues to back Mothership.
The Mothership Vortex: An Investigation Into the Firm at the Heart of the Democratic Spam Machine
How a single consulting firm extracted $282 million from a network of spam PACs while delivering just $11 million to actual campaigns.

If I were programming AI with the express goal of making humans feel helpless, I would begin by summarizing everyone's emails in the passive voice.

(The email being summarized said: "Thanks!")

Honestly shut the fuck up. Running a coal plant non stop can't solve the fact that cars take up 60 times the space of people.
If you care about traffic — if you care about not being late to work, coming home to your kids, and saving your time — you have to care about GenAI.

GenAI has come to traffic management, and this cutting-edge tool will help the state better serve all Californians.
