I’ve seen this concern raised by some FF leaders related to the proposed use of goats/sheep for the purpose of grasslands fuel reduction. The concern: the herds will spread invasives from other grazing sites thru their scat and the invasives will exacerbate wf hazard or change the fire ecology.
When cattle are #grazing where they’re not supposed to, it can spread invasive plants, pushing out native species and worsening #wildfire risk.

Each year the Center surveys ~500 stream miles of endangered species critical habitat on public lands in southwestern riparian areas for livestock grazing damage. We find lots, prompting legal action. As shown here, it can be horrifying.

It is maddening and frustrating to observe and experience this in real time. I hope more of our population can wake up to this reality soon to move forward to something more sane.

The US Army Corps of Engineers, Naval Civil Engineers Corps, Seabees, and related units are well aware of this, and fund/implement R&D to help facilities assess their vulnerabilities and reduce flood risks.

I’ve read/heard SO many nauseating and deeply concerning statements made during the prez cabinet meeting today…. I think this dog-whistle may be the worse one. Awful.
