Atari 2600 Donkey Kong. It was probably 1986 or so when I got it. The first game that I remember picking out and getting new instead of second hand. Also the first game that I wanted to draw, after seeing "the funny man," Mario, die.

I'm assuming it's just to be get under the "Switch 2 Releases" tab and not get as buried by other releases. I can't imagine why any of these 30+ emulated classics would need the extra Switch 2 power.

It’s an often forgotten detail of the shareware model that in many cases the best/most cohesive levels were the ones given away for free, and then the later episodes would include maps that could be kind of a slog. The shareware model is no more, but the ethos endures with frontloaded AAA spectacle
Initially distributed as shareware with a full release in April, you got a hefty chunk of Duke action with the whole of LA Meltdown. Which, I will say is the best of Duke 3D in my eyes. It feels a wee bit front-loaded in that way.

Fortnite Presents: Fall Guys Crown Jam is really good. I've been very lukewarm on Falls Guys in Fortnite (I loved the original but it felt weird in FN), but Crown Jam is great & I hope it sticks around. It might be the first "sports" game I've played where I feel the excitement of sports.

I have mixed feelings about Fortnite being a super game, but when it can drop a new mode out of no where and allow you to play it with zero additional set up, that's huge. Especially with multiplayer. I have a better chance of getting a friend to go get their doctorate than download a new game.

If Nintendo won't let Fortntie harvest their IP, I guess Fortnite will just make it's own! Fortnite Squid Sisters are apparently a thing. Music reactive and all!
