New paper in Isogloss! We look at the role of ambient exposure to code-switching in the processing of contextually unattested, but syntactically licit, switches in L2 learners of Spanish. Implications for experience-based processing are discussed.

I’m teaching research methods in psycho/neuroling today in my Language and Brain seminar, complete with an RStudio tutorial and an Instructional Pilot that my students are going to help me design, and this feels very relatable. I’m so excited.

Had a great time presenting some exploratory analyses from my dissertation tonight in a poster session at #SNL2025, and looking forward to sharing another poster tomorrow night in poster session D!

You’d think that after having walked to campus during tornado watches and having experienced multiple severe thunderstorm warnings, tornado warnings, and hurricanes, I’d no longer be phased by severe weather, but alas.

The jump scare that was my AC kicking on in the middle of a tornado warning.

I will say that a tornado warning was not on my “moving from Florida to the Northeast” bingo card, but here we are.

After five years here, I’ve made it to my last week in Gainesville. This week I’m moving to NY to start my new chapter as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology at Bard College.

How do you fit a goodbye into 200-something characters? Bittersweet, to say the least. I’ll sure miss Gville.

Last year after I taught SLA, I decided to start up a science communication IG to talk about bilingualism/L2 stuff to non-expert audiences. I shut down my IG in Jan, but have since moved to Substack! Share widely with friends/fam who might be interested in bilingual stuff 🙂

Five years, come and gone.

Yesterday I successfully defended my dissertation.

When I was 17, I learned Danish and from that point I wanted nothing more than to understand how the brain processes our second language.
