"The destruction of Palestine’s seed banks reveals ecocide as a weapon of temporal control — a strategy for extending genocide beyond the present moment into an undeterminable future."
This summer, Israeli bulldozers rolled through the West Bank city of Hebron with ruthless efficiency, targeting Palestine’s only surviving national seed bank. What happened in Hebron fits the legal definition of ecocide — the deliberate destruction of ecosystems to undermine human survival.
Israel’s Attacks on Seed Banks Destroy Millenia of Palestinian Cultural Heritage
When Israel targets Palestinian seed banks, it’s not just destroying buildings. It’s attacking the future itself.

No one should entertain stated intentions for the cuts, attacks on science are not about taxpayer savings, they’re destroying foundations of evidence based public information & decision making. It’s about consolidating control making party elites uncontested arbiters of “facts” & acceptable thought.
The CDC's cruise ship inspectors have been laid off, as well as agency's head epidemiologist for investigating cruise ship outbreaks

That baffled health officials since this program is paid for by cruise ship fees, not taxpayer dollars

What a dangerous mockery of science. Scientists do not confidently know or declare in advance that they will have meaningful conclusions at all let alone when. He has already made his conclusion & is stacking the processes to confirm his biases.

Though predictable it is striking the depths of hypocrisy & audacity of those who falsely equated liberal/left social critiques & boycotts, “canceling” (which the Right also does) with state censorship, are championing literal thought police empowered to snatch people without due process for ideas.
For whatever reason ICE doesn't have a Bluesky account. So I thought I'd drop this in here. Note the Free Speech crowd has now put the good folks at ICE in charge of stopping, detaining and deporting "Ideas".

Reading details of latest energy EOs has clarified for me Trump’s alignment with AI, crypto & large scale server farm heavy tech. Pumping energy sink industries acts as double subsidy to bail out coal industry Trump always fixated at the same time as collecting new money tech bro support for GOP.

I’ve come to the view that the position of president in its current form is a failure & founders didn’t go far enough to avoid replicating a kind of king. I think it should be abandoned or curtailed to a role more akin to chief diplomat with few direct powers & fed agencies made independent.
One man just wiped out $10 trillion in wealth, is destroying centuries-old legal protections, and seems determined to unravel humanity’s greatest public health achievement. In 3 months.

I don’t know how we get out of this. But if we do, one person can never have that kind of power again.

Institutions need to stop just capitulating on everything in advance. Glad this policy, more accurately thought of as decongestion pricing, is being allowed to continue & demonstrate that our big cities don’t have to be congested car sewers, & creating new revenue for reinvesting in public transit.

Over 40,000 people die in U.S. car crashes annually, 100+ daily, with worse deaths per capita & distance traveled than many other countries. Maybe worry more about that. Transit safety in the U.S. can & should be improved, but it’s already safer than any of its alternatives.
Sean Duffy: "The truth is, transit across America is dangerous. And these liberals -- liberal mayors -- they want everybody out of cars and into trains but they made the trains unsafe so nobody really wants to ride them ... even big men don't want to ride the subway at those times of night."

I was hoping for closer to 20% decline but this is the biggest drop in the company’s history. A good start, but I think we can see steeper declines next quarter, I believe in us.
