Important paper from @rycalder.bsky.social, Rachel Clark, and Claire Summa analyzing 2019-2023 trauma data from DC traffic crashes. They found that injury rates *increased* and that racial disparities exist *for every user type* including pedestrians & cyclists. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41014831/

Amazing public policy from Paris - high predicted pollution day so they put out a special $4 unlimited day pass the night before. @wmatagm.bsky.social

Attention: fellow people who hate flashing yellow left turn arrows across protected bike lanes -

DDOT is putting a new one to allow southbound left turns across the MBT from 1st St NE to K “for the safety of bicyclists”.

Signal is already up but please push DDOT / Council to evaluate safety.

Out of town but the northbound on 4th blinking left arrow to turn onto Michigan combined with a walk signal for pedestrians / cyclists is malpractice and should be fixed. Blinking left arrow essentially makes every driver super aggressive and entitled. Make it green or red.
Hearing there may have been a cyclist hit at 4th and Michigan this morning? Scene is weird, according to a friend, with just a bike, a delivery truck, and a police officer, which implies someone was transported.

In other news, potentially a fix for the right turn on red fiasco that is Louisiana and Constitution.

Been taking an extended social media break for [reasons] so failing to breathlessly document Trader Joe’s arrival in Edgewood 😅.

Pretty excited to have a public (ish, I’m happy to buy stuff) bathroom open 9-9 7 days a week by the Brookland metro.

Also @popville.bsky.social I owe you a six pack

What’s the policy rationale for requiring @dcpubliclibrary.bsky.social renewals every 3 years? Seems sort of customer unfriendly. Is there a big issue with people obtaining and keeping library cards after they leave the city?

Proud to be a new Washington Spirit season ticket holder (126, row 19). Will be out of town for the home opener March 22 if anyone wants first dibs on 2 or 4 seats.

(TIL: They don’t let you exchange the opener tickets to later games).
