This article is founded on an entirely false premise. What's the Letterboxd's user score for Melania (2026)? 1.1. Are these cinema goers somehow irrelevant compared to Rotten Tomatoes? www.theguardian.com/film/2026/fe...
The gulf between critics and audience has never been wider – just look at Melania’s Rotten Tomatoes score
Critics have given the Flotus flick 11% on the aggregator site, but the ‘verified ticket buyers’ score is a near perfect 98%. Fake views, or a sign of our politically disparate times?

I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

I don't understand why an artificial scarcity of RAM is good for anything, least of all the RAM manufacturers? Surely they'd make more money by making more RAM, not less.
this RAM crisis feels like it’s going to ruin consumer electronics over the next decade. Bloomberg reports that Sony is considering pushing the PS6 release to 2028 or even 2029 www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

The hounding of Dr Beth Upton out of the NHS is the modern Dreyfus trial - except that Dr Upton has suffered the public sword-snapping at the hands of gutter transphobes and the press *despite being fully and completely exonerated*in the courts.

At least they found Dreyfus guilty.

Legitimately one of the finest actors of the 20th Century. Apocalypse Now (1979) of course, but one of my personal favourites, Network (1976).

When they make movies about this in the future they will tone down the cruelty of ICE and border patrol, like Spielberg did with Goeth in Schindler's List, because no one will believe they were actually this monstrous.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

That's not the case, for any number of possible reasons.

Went to see Sunny Afternoon at the New Theatre in Oxford earlier this week; really excellent and great music but saddened that the theatre was less than half full, and that was with the balcony closed. ATG Entertainment should sell the tickets at discount and fill those seats!

This is an enormous victory for the Palestinian solidarity movement, for civil liberties and for our common humanity.

The real crime is this government’s complicity in genocide - and we will not rest until we have justice for the Palestinian people.

I would genuinely like a publisher to release a series of historic cookery books, similar to Oxford World's Classics, with academic footnotes. "The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Easy", "Primitive Cookery" (the earliest vegetarian cookery book), "The Accomplisht Cook", etc.

The Prime Minister says he changed the Labour Party.

He's right. He changed it from a party of principle, workers and peace, to a party of patronage, the establishment and war.

Poverty, corruption and complicity in genocide. That will be his government's legacy.
