Delighted to have got a chance to meet the West on Track and GLUAS campaigns this evening.

We're all working to transform how we get around Galway, Connacht and the whole island.

Some nice light reading for us on the bus home! 😄

GALWAY TO MAYO RAIL LINK FUNDED

Some good news for Galway's railway. The Minister of State for Transport Seán Canney announced that funding for the reopenning of the Athenry <-> Claremorris railway will be included in the National Development Plan.

Good news out of the pre-budget discussions. Fares will not be rising this year.

The Government must continue to invest in capital and current expenditure for Public Transport particularly in Galway to make up for the historical lack of ambition which has left our city totally choked with traffic.

Please support it if you can by joining us on the day or contact your local TDs & ask them to attend the Love 30 presentation in the AV room.

This effects rural Ireland as much as it does our larger towns and cities.

Another fine example of how a small group of well-funded residents can completely hold up Essential Infrastructure through the Judicial Review system to get their way

Very convenient how it also means their illegal car parking spots remain available

Dismissing privacy concerns of bus stop outside a house as an “annoyance” means planning decision is “legally defective” — High Court

Yet another report describing the obvious.

Galway needs proactive and urgent investment in public transport and active travel. It is the only reliable way to tackle congestion and its massive associated costs.

On the subject of 🚲 permeability, is anyone on friendly terms with a journalist who might be interested in participating in an active travel experiment?

The experiment being to compare the utility of walking versus cycling on a number of carefully selected routes through the centre of Galway City?

A healthy society does not just happen; it requires us to rethink how we use our public space. In Galway, we have so much public space which is theoretically shared but which in reality is given over to motor vehicles.

Trial a Strand Road cycle path for 12 months

Dublin City Council won its legal case after years of Court battles. We cannot listen to those who are trying to block quick action on climate change, road safety, and increasing mobility options.

Trial a Strand Road cycle path for 12 months
I've just signed this petition calling on the council to trial a Strand Road cycle path for 12 months. Will you sign too?

Pity WestOnTrack and other rail advocacy groups have not yet made the journey away from X to Bluesky.

A much-needed comprehensive train and light rail system for Galway needs to have bicycle access baked in, along #UniversalDesign principles.

This urban greenway in Galway, Millers Lane, is part of a well-planned train network 🚂🧵

Councils don't need planning permission for trial cycle routes? Looks like Galway should get moving on Salthill

The children in this city deserve to be able to make it home safe. The city council must do better, this should never happen again.
