Good lord, I’ve discovered the podcast Midnight Burger and I am obsessed. It’s a sci-fi mystery podcast about a diner that travels through time and the multiverse. It’s extremely smart, the characters are so compelling, the plot is unhinged, and I’m loving it so much. @midnightburger.bsky.social

My reading list for this cultural moment.

[image desc: 3 books: “1984” by George Orwell, “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants” by Robin Wall Kimmerer, and “Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto” by Tricia Hersey, Founder of The Nap Ministry.”]

I’m losing my voice. An impending cold? Mystery laryngitis? Who knows?

Maybe it’s from all that screaming into the void I’ve been doing.

What would be the modern day equivalent of dumping tea into Boston harbor as a form of protesting tyranny in this societal moment?

This dog rescued a lost toddler who somehow ended up *seven miles* away from home. What a very, very good boy.
Arizona dog found a missing 2-year-old on his nightly patrol that a local rescue team spent 16 hours searching for. 15/10

We’ve been watching Babylon 5 and it is so eerie how relevant so much of is it to the current situation we’re in 30 years later.

Right on, museum-goers.

We’ve been re-watching Babylon 5 and got to the episode that starts with the crooked President of Earth putting out an executive order disbanding the Senate and declaring martial law.

I got a little stab of panic in my chest. That hits a little too close to home.

House Republicans just voted to rob 72 million Americans of their Medicaid coverage to give tax cuts to the rich. 😤

We get questioned a lot—we understand. Every day seems crazier than the last, and our legitimacy is often challenged. But everything we’ve shared is backed by evidence.

Cutting $880 billion from Medicaid is going to have a lot of devastating consequences for a lot of people

I 💗 NPR so no shade, but I am glad that the media has *finally* 👏👏👏👏 picked up what we’ve been laying down for at least a week (?? Hell if I know - all I know is that it feels like day #9999 of this regime but it’s only actually like day 29 or something)

DOGE released data about federal contract savings. It doesn't add up
A new government tracker claims DOGE has saved billions from ending federal contracts. But an NPR analysis of the data finds the claimed savings don't add up.

So, because it is 2025 and for some godforsaken reason we have to talk about this...

If you received two measles vaccinations as a child, you are safe (or as safe as modern medicine can make you, which is not 100% because that's not how any of this works).
