My garden is being visited by the aptly named, Amegilla bombiformis, aka teddy bear bee. On the left is a female and on the right, a male.

I'm never going to be okay with the idea that I'm supposed to sit politely while people talk about using ChatGPT to do their research! I actually do this science stuff because I enjoy it, and I think if you hate writing your own papers or parsing your own data THAT much you should do something else!

Scientific misconduct can waste public funds and harm human health. But views differ about the best way to tackle it.

Maybe police and security services should have spent less time harassing peace protesters and more time looking into IS-affiliated guys with multiple weapons who went to the Philippines for terrorist training…?

Gaza’s Government Media Office reports Israel has broken terms of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire at least 738 times since it took effect on October 10, killing at least 386 Palestinians, while severely restricting shipments of food, shelter, medicine, fuel and other basic goods into Gaza.

This male Lipotriches australica was bubbling! A process in which the bee will bubble nectar in order to evaporate the water and condense the nectar!

NSW police are doing what they do best, using a tragedy as an excuse to over police and arrest minorities.

The attack at Bondi is directly linked to the fact the government won't lift a finger to stop racists neo-nazis terrorising Sydney as they please.

Heartbroken at the events in Bondi overnight. But also furious at the Israeli PM’s comments, essentially blaming the Australian government for the attack. At a time of sadness, he demonstrates yet again that there’s no tragedy he won’t twist for political gain. Disgusting.

Devestating to wake up to the news of the death toll reaching 16 people at the #Bondi shootings yesterday. Just awful.

7News is reporting that the hero who tackled the gunman is Ahmed el Ahmed, a 43-year-old Lebanese immigrant, father and fruit grocer from the suburb of Sutherland.

Probably just a coincidence that the list of Australia's new fossil fuel projects will come out on the Friday before Xmas.

F'ing this! 👇
I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

Today's native bee for #auspollinatorweek is Leioproctus sp. (hairy colletid bee). These small, hairy bees are most commonly found in Australasia!
