When the U.S. House passed the SAVE Act last year, historians told us it was Congress’ worst attack on voting rights ever. Well, this week the House approved an even worse one. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Great sitting down with Brian Tyler Cohen to talk about everything from the courage we saw in Minnesota, to how Democrats can be true to our values and get stuff done, to how we’re building a community of changemakers at the Obama Foundation. youtube.com/watch?v=uI-hgSE5QIw

Democracy is when voters choose their leaders. Autocracy is when leaders choose their voters.
Kristi Noem: "When it gets to Election Day, we've been proactive to make sure we have the right people voting, electing the right leaders to lead this country."

Perhaps a better way of saying this would be to say that in just his first year in office Donald Trump ordered the illegal detention of well over 4,000 human beings—and that that number is undoubtedly wildly low because it only considers those people who filed lawsuits to try to regain their freedom
A Reuters review found that immigration detainees have filed more than 20,200 federal lawsuits seeking release since President Trump took office, with hundreds of judges ruling more than 4,400 times that detentions were unlawful reut.rs/40gfILP

Dear Americans I have voted by post for many years. It’s safe and secure with almost no fraud because of the checks. Nearly all civilised countries allow it. Trump lies only to restrict voting and to allow voter intimidation at polling stations.

Sanders: The American people do not want this country to be an authoritarian society or an oligarchy. We have our differences, that’s what democracy is about—we argue it out. We don’t throw people who disagree in jail. We don’t intimidate the media. We don’t send ICE agents to shoot people.

AOC: "Extreme level of wealth inequality leads to social instability and drives authoritarianism, right-wing populism, and really dangerous domestic internal politics. That is a direct outcome of the failure of democracies over decades to deliver."

honestly tired of trying to convince people that trump's immigration policy is not really about violent undocumented immigrants or even just undocumented immigrants, but immigrants in general and even non-white people more broadly.
cool, cool. so we are sort of like citizens, but not really?

Pam Bondi has been a complete and total failure at her job. The Epstein survivors showed more courage just by being in that room than she did under oath. She refused to answer questions and chose complicity.

BREAKING: The House passed the so-called SAVE America Act which threatens to upend our freedom to vote.

The bill could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters by requiring documents like passports or birth certificates to register to vote and forcing voter roll purges. The Senate must reject it.

I and millions of Americans believe exactly the same thing Kasparov does.

Too many troops, too many new prisons, too much money not under Congressional supervision.

We're not just witnessing a mass deportation scheme anymore.

This is something significantly bigger and scarier.
