Great Lakes weather (+ climate/hydro) guy. Into indie music, cooking, and maps. New to native gardening and bonsai. Vegan. Chihuahua dad.
Switching from Spotify to Qobuz wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be, but I did burn through my “unlimited” monthly data for the first time. Coincidence??

Kudos to those who chose to leave their leaves this fall. May your yard have an abundance of fireflies next summer. ✨

Had such an amazing time in Marquette this week. Happy that there was still some fall color and we had beautiful weather the whole time. Lots of great hiking and beer and vegan options!

Hard to believe we were still mowing this part of the yard a little over a year ago! Just planted another 100+ native plugs among the shrubs we planted last year. All plugs were grown from collected seed from the front #NativeGarden 🌱

Michigan faces worst drought in a decade as rainfall and rivers run low

Parts of Michigan are in the most ‘severe’ drought since 2012, with much of the Lower Peninsula receiving far less rainfall than normal. That’s left rivers running low and soil moisture scarce, affecting agriculture.

One of my favorite Great Lakes weather events. A cold core upper low passed over the lakes during the annual peak in water temps, causing a low-level warm core to develop complete with spiral rain banding and a cloud-free eye. Even produced a brief period of tropical storm force winds! #miwx

Well the bonsai workshop I went to yesterday didn’t happen because the instructor forgot about it and was in NY. Cool! The bright side is I made some new bonsai friends by commiserating with them 🤙🪴
