Things are escalating. Friends report mass walk outs and demonstrations, even in the “upper city” (the rich parts). Mum reporting a lot of slogan shouting.
I have been very careful about opining on what is happening in Iran right now. But omg omg omg! This is exciting and scary. I am dead afraid for these people & shudder at thinking what might happen. They must succeed & I am mot brave enough to go there & help them.

Back in 2003, I remember wanting Saddam Hussein gone so badly that I didn’t care who replaced him, even if it had been Satan himself.
As it turns out, who the replacement was did matter A LOT.

If you look at the feed of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies staffers you'll see that they're just straight up agitating for balkanization, in the exact same way they want Syria to be broken up into three to five states
I like how the regime change / neocon line on Iran boils down to it is an incredibly diverse society that yearns for freedom and therefore if we topple the regime ofc what emerges will be an incredibly diverse complicated population with conflicting interests that definitely agrees w/ John Bolton

What strikes me is how not alarmed she is. Because a reasonable human being in this country didnt used to expect an agent of the state pulling a gun over this level of interaction.
The ICE agent called her a "fucking bitch" after he killed her. One officer screams "Go, get out of here" while this officer says "Get out of the car." You clearly see her turn the wheel AWAY from him after he steps in front of her car. Did they think releasing this would help them?? cw // violence

Prison guards are flocking to ICE jobs and frankly this makes sense. Those of us who have been anti-prison organizers for decades have been saying that fascism already existed within prisons/jails. Our best teachers for how to survive fascism are incarcerated people.
