I have litmus test issues for anyone I vote for. If they don't pass, they don't get my vote. The criteria is pretty basic, too.

Civil equality of trans/LGBTQ people
Civil rights of immigrants
Civil equality of minorities
Reproductive healthcare & body autonomy
Must be proud to fight fascism
Me: Searches for "advent"

Oxford Dictionary: "the arrival of a notable person, event or thing". eg, "the advent of television"

Google AI: "The true meaning of Advent is the celebration of Christ's coming"

Anyone else notice AI becoming more Christian lately?

Yeah, Bill Donohue has long tried to excuse away The Church's sex abuse scandals. I can't tell if he can't admit to himself that the Clergy can do bad things or if he's somehow more invested than that.
I was thinking “why would Bill be going to the mat for this” and then it got to the part where he uses it to try to excuse the church’s sex abuse scandal and everything clicked
Holy shit. They're really doing it. They're doing "actually pedophilia is good now." The debasement of the American Right is complete.

Alice Wong, writer and disability activist, has died. She was an educator and a communicator and a warrior who lit the way. I’m grateful to have crossed paths with her. Rest in peace.

Want change? Work to get 80+ AOC/Ilhan Omar/Rashida Tlaibs in Congress.

No more Dems who say standing up to Trump doesn’t work. No more Dems who say we need to abandon trans people. No more Dems who say we went “too far left.”

Any Democrat can win in 2026. You can afford to be discerning.

Just an incalculable loss from which we won’t soon recover.

Alice was the best of us and I hope we all do (or keep doing) the kind of good work that burnishes her memory.

Gotta love being told your disability is “secondary” to the comfort of others.

That your accommodations won’t be considered because it’s your “problem to fix”.

Disability is not a “problem”.

It’s not a failing.

It’s not something we can turn on & off.

Ableism is everywhere.

Rest in power, Alice.
Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated

This story pretty much encapsulates what the tech industry has become at one end of the scale. Move fast, break things; don't worry if the thing you break is people's health.

Trump really is trying to repeat history.

On October 5, 1938, the Reich Ministry of the Interior invalidated all German passports held by Jews.
The intent, for anyone paying attention, is clearly to revoke trans peoples’ passports and then refuse to issue new ones, keeping us captive and on a state extermination list.
Trump Admin Quietly Changes State Department Page To Indicate It May Invalidate Trans Passports
The change comes after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the administration and lifted a temporary injunction.

This is horrific. They're intentionally harming children simply because the kids are queer.
This seems like it should be getting more attention.

"The President is ordering foster service providers to place children in homes that are anti-trans and/or deeply religious, without concern for whether those family ideologies would harm the children involved."

Well, now. That's a particularly scary sign of what's to come.
More Military personnel are calling legal military non-profit agencies seeking advice for orders they received.

The more I see this mention the more I think it may have been a juvenile attempt to word-play the old joke making the rounds at that time w/ various characters saying, "I was blowing bubbles" and ending with the final character saying that their name is Bubbles. Epstein was not a deep thinker.
Thinking about it, I would love to see a journalist go and ask Trump if he has something to say about what Epstein meant by a Poutine having a picture of him blowing 'Bubba'

Just for the lols of seeing Trump explode lol

The soft pedaling language being used to describe the men in the Epstein files is enraging.

They didn’t “have sex with underage girls”.

They raped them.

Sex implies consent.

The survivors deserve better than this. Use the correct language. Say what these men did.

"Olympics Move to Ban Trans Women and Cis Female Athletes With Male Levels of Testosterone"

Another #CoalMineCanary moment. Now they're going after cis women who are too masculine. Only white, willowy, demure women need apply.

At some point people might realize this is just enforcing patriarchy.

I see the Church is back it's duplicitous tactic of saying something via their PR machine that seems nice but is of no real consequence while also proclaiming the opposite to a different audience.
Aren't these the same bishops that decided to start discriminating against trans patients at their hospitals *checks notes* starting TODAY?
