Rep. Raskin: "Releasing the names of a lot of victims is either spectacular incompetence and sloppiness on [DOJ's] part or, as a lot of the survivors believe, a deliberate threat to other survivors who are thinking about coming forward."

Not stupid. Impunity is a big part of the project. And so far it seems to be working.
Ghislaine Maxwell's attorney has gone public with her offer to "clear" Donald Trump in exchange for a pardon. So if Donald gives her one, that would be an admission that she has information about him that could lead to criminal convictions.

Stupid of the lawyer to say the quiet part out loud.

Are people sicker now than in 2019?

Civil servants in England are.
Sickness absence rates have *risen by between 12% to 23% across the age groups*.

Are things getting worse?
It certainly looks like it.

This is exactly what we predicted repeat covid infection would do.

The strongest predictor of climate action is whether people talk about climate change — not how much they know, how worried they are, or who they vote for.

This is the thing. The fact that governments aren't commonly punished for early election calls doesn't mean they're not risky. The very nature of the 2025 election - the huge swing in the polls, the Trump factor, economic uncertainty etc - would make a call now deeply deeply risky.
plus, polls are one thing, turnout is another. a lot of carney's support is pretty evidently from people who are largely checked out beyond massive scary headlines

I am truly impressed by the number of motorists whose objection to this boils down to "but I am not a safe enough driver to handle it and I would prefer not to improve"
This technology already exists and is widely used. It doesn't involve 'government surveillance' and would not allow ICE or any other government agency to stop individual cars.

Just say you think thousands of kids dying every year is worth it so you can speed!

Speed Limiters Now Mandatory in All New EU Cars
Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) isn't an ironclad speeding prevention system, but could be just annoying enough to spark a backlash.

When 40% of voters can deliver near total power, accountability collapses.

Majority governments without majority support are not stability, they are insulation from consequences.

Pro-Rep forces governments to earn broad support and makes abuse of power harder to hide.

Every member of Council knows there isn't an easy way to dramatically reduce costs, quickly. It takes time to do it. It takes hard work. It takes patience. For some of those proposing "fiscal prudence" during the budget, this is more about media sound bites than anything else.

It’s eminently logical — not “extreme” — for athletes who’ve trained their WHOLE LIVES for one event to take similar precautions in order to stay in peak physical condition

MMR is the MMA of vax's - baby got his the day he turned 6 months, just like a windsor kid might go get their beginner's licence the day they turn 16
I remember getting my oldest the MMR vaccine early because we were going on holiday to Mexico.
Now not a bad idea to do so in much of Canada because of the social media-spread anti-vax brain virus.
FYI you can get it as early as 6 months.
