It’s frustrating that most event platforms lock API behind expensive plans. Meetup, Luma, and others restrict the API to $50+ monthly plans. They already scale plans based on guests, events, and payments so why charge for something that would help get the platform more usage?

Did you know that for five bucks a month you get access to the PBS passport streaming app which has tons of incredibly good shows and documentaries and things and it helps support their funding?

I really like how some nonfiction books are starting to include comics in them. I am reading Out of Your Mind by @dwaynegodwin.bsky.social and @phdcomics.com and there are comics throughout each chapter and some comic interludes.

I got 2 sales on my game!!!

Even though this is my second game release, it still brings me so much joy when someone is willing to spend their hard earned cash on something that I've made!

Thank you so, so much to the two amazing people who did just that!!!😁🦆

Upping this because it's an important read: results suggest there are spatially distributed brain areas which appear to use oxygen *more efficiently* during tasks, especially in the DMN - which is contrary to the assumptions made by conventional BOLD.

This was a fun game and I loved the approach to combat. But even after beating it, I still have no idea what most of the story was about.

Did you know that from tomorrow, Qualtrics is offering synthetic panels (AI-generated participants)?

Follow me down a rabbit hole I'm calling "doing science is tough and I'm so busy, can't we just make up participants?"

I often have content ideas or snippets I want to post to my site that don't need a whole blog post. I came across a site with a "Notes" section, and decided to add something similar to my own site.

For the 1st note, I added an SQL snippet to find the largest MySQL tables in a DB

While Amazon is investing billions of dollars to expand AI, independent bookstores are hosting community events, personally recommending books to readers, and providing a space that is safe and welcoming during a time when we need them most.

Never underestimate the power of a local bookstore.

After speaking to several people, one challenge I identified is what metrics to include. Some tools they use offer dozens/hundreds of metrics, and some people weren't sure which metrics they would even want in this report.
A while ago, I built a tool that connects to business tools & sends me a daily email with the main metrics (screenshot uses random data). I recently added an in-depth weekly report. I'm thinking about turning it into a small SaaS. If this sounds useful to you, let me know.

This preprint evaluated bot-detection strategies in research and has a lot of useful insights. But the most interesting part to me is that their study had 19,467 responses, and they eliminated 99.17% that were likely bots, resulting in a final sample size of only 161!
