I’ve been playing through New Super Lucky’s Tale on the Switch and I’m loving some of the completely random scenes and levels it has.

I was curious to know how many bills a U.S. Congress member introduces or co-sponsors. It turns out that most don't introduce new bills often. Many have only introduced a handful since the start of this term.

This week in my organic chemistry class we were extracting caffeine from tea. After filtering and doing multiple rounds using a separatory funnel, I got to use this new device, the rotatory evaporator.

I’m definitely enjoying these labs quite a bit.

This week in my Org Chem class, we are doing our first distillation lab.

I earned my first Tableau certification this week! I've had several clients this year where I used Tableau, so I thought I'd go through their foundations certification to fill in some knowledge gaps.

#9 Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. I had skipped this one on the GameCube when it first came out, so it was great that it came to Switch.

In my next data story, I'm exploring how podcast episode duration differs across countries, categories, & other factors. An interesting trend is that episode length for top podcasts varies a lot across countries. A US podcast tends to be 50% longer than a Japanese podcast.

Just discovered that Debian OS versions are all named after Toy Story characters (Debian 13 released a few days ago and is called Trixie). The Debian Project Leader was working at Pixar during the early versions.

My Python package, light-cache, passed 1,000 downloads! I know that's not much in the open-source world, but it's a fun milestone that some of my other packages haven't crossed.

#8: Bastion. I started this game many years ago, but never finished it. When I picked up the Switch 2, I moved some indies that I never finished from my original Switch and am hoping to work through them.

I got the early prototypes built for the cargo UI, dialogs, and the main deposit area. It's still early, and I haven't done any of the real UI/design, so it looks rough, but it's starting to come together.

Chord diagrams are a fun way to visualize potential connections between different categorical values. I often use these during the early stages of analysis to identify interesting trends where two items have a lot more connections than others or ones that have many fewer connections.

#7 Art of Statistics by David Spiegelhalter. As someone working in data who is self-taught, I always pick up new concepts whenever I read a new statistics book, so I try to read through one now and then.

Since the game I'm working on this time is a bit bigger than the tiny games I've done so far, I thought I'd explore how unit testing works in Godot. The GUT plugin made it super easy to get set up and running some initial tests.

#6 Duck Detective: The Secret Salami. Out of the games I've played so far this year, this one is definitely one of my favorites.

#6 The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I didn't realize how long this book is. Definitely a good book, but it took a long while to get through it.

#5 Pilo and the Holobook. Interesting short game where you complete your holobook by scanning objects.

A tricky part of game development is that much of the initial work is on underlying systems & non-user-facing code. I've spent a lot of time on my game's unlocking/activating/deactivating upgrade system, but so far, I only have a button to show for it in my debug area.

I am working on a small podcast analysis project, and one of the things I am looking at is how long podcasts are in certain categories. I got a weird output for the Kids & Family Apple Charts & looked to see why. Turns out one of the top podcasts in the category is a 12-hour sound machine podcast 😅
