Tried the face scan for UK bsky age verification. Failed over 10 times. Gave up.
Crappy age verification the UK has forced on us. It says "Sorry, something went wrong" then "Try again". I tried over 10 times with the same result.

I plan to edit chapter 1 of my manuscript. Once it's done, would anyone be interested in BETA READING it?

The largest critique that I get is that though my writing is strong, agents are having a difficult time relating to the MC.

It's a YA Fantasy.

Swarna waited patiently by the bar while a raucous guy ordered a Jägerbomb and downed it before picking up the rest of his drinks and returning to his group of friends. Swarna ordered an amaretto and Coke from the lady behind the bar, only to be told that they didn't have amaretto, and they didn't have Coke. Settling for a spiced rum and Pepsi she took her drink outside and bought a pot of cockles off the seafood stall before finding a seat in the beer garden beside an anchor that had been sloppily painted in thick black paint. As Swarna ate she looked out over the murky brown water of the Thames. Not having had cockles in a long time she had forgotten how chewy they were. Like eating salty elastic bands.

Swarna double checked the address Amber had sent her. She’d almost walked past the place. It was an inconspicuous entrance, consisting of a grotty narrow door, squeezed between a bookies and a chicken shop. What kind of a name is Chicken Dispensary? Talk about gentrification. She pressed the doorbell on the intercom, absentmindedly picking at some flaking paint, and waited for a muffled voice that murmured unintelligibly before a buzzer sounded as the door was unlocked. Inside she saw a dingy hallway with a flight of carpeted stairs leading up to another door. Swarna thumped the old-fashioned pneumatic light switch and headed for the stairs. Before she reached them the door opened and Swarna looked up at the largest man she had ever seen.

He had read the proposals. He knew what was at stake and even though he could not hope to be half the man his father was, Phibber had the right of it. No other politicians had the backbone for such an undertaking. He wasn’t certain he did. Actually, he was quite certain that he didn’t. But for one thing.

Test run of Snow Skin Moon Cakes with my son before making them with the Woodcraft Folk kids was mostly a success. (I know they're not traditionally made for lunar new year but we needed something non-bake). Just realised it's suffragette colours. 🎂🍽️
A plate of 8 snow skin moon cakes. Half are square, half circular. They are a mix of colours, white, green (using matcha), and purple (a food colouring test), or a mix of two of those colours together.
