It’s almost like young women care about bodily autonomy, healthcare, feeding babies and aren’t raging racists.
It’s so shocking to the right wingers!

It is cold. It is windy. There is frozen ice in a bucket on my front porch.

Winter's going to be like this?

Damn.

Had occasion, as one does, to think on Shakespeare's sonnets this morning, which called to mind this bit of absolute gorgeousness from Judi Dench. In case you need some beauty: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XKS...

When starting your sourdough journey most starter instructions give you 1 -1-1 ratios (1 part starter, 1 part water, 1 part flour). You will get a culture going like that, but my experience tells me that the consistency of the starter is more important than those precise clinical measurements.

Once you've impressed me, you've done so for life.
You don't need to continue to try to impress me.
If you keep trotting out your accomplishments, well, then you're just bragging.

Modesty is more impressive than bragging.

When I was growing up, we never had mirrors in our rooms. There was only one full-length mirror in the house. We also only had one scale in the house. Both were hidden in my parents room, which we almost never entered.

I think that was better for everyone in my family.

I don't know why you'd want to be a writer if you didn't have ideas falling off of you like dandruff, pouring out of you, threatening to make your brain explode.

If I had to work to come up with ideas, I'd move furniture.

I love the fact that Rick Berman and Brannon Braga are on a press tour telling everyone how Star Trek should sound as if it was written by uptight white men like Rick Berman and Brannon Braga.

Fuck them. Gene Roddenberry thought Berman was a schmuck.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court denied an attempt to challenge Obergefell v. Hodges, the case affirming marriage equality nationwide.

Our freedom to marry remains the law of the land.

It’s amazing how this concept can be seen in play, in every sub-culture, in every community and always within the newest members. Look for the people who are “experts” after only a short time in the field. They are often the ones preaching to everyone else.

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.

Stop referring to our representatives and senators in congress as "leaders". We are not following them. They are asking us to allow them to represent our community's needs. They are there to speak for our causes. If they can't do that job effectively we need to fire them.

The People Lead.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

just completed the BBC/HBO His Dark Materials. I didn't love the first season. It grew on me. Ruth Wilson is simply amazing as the psychopath Mrs. Coulter. Dafne Keen is aces as Lyra too. Lots of other great performances.
