The logic of the free market is that nuclear power generation should be more competitive, less regulated and have lower health and safety standards for workers - combination that has never resulted in any issues, anywhere, ever.

I once thought it was possible to run courses to teach people to use these tools safely. I was so wrong.

Others are now making the same mistake with LLM-based tools.

Harm to mental health is a feature of these things, not a bug.
“Meta shut down internal research into the mental health effects of Facebook after finding causal evidence that its products harmed users’ mental health, according to unredacted filings in a lawsuit by U.S. school districts against Meta and other social media platforms.”
Meta buried 'causal' evidence of social media harm, US court filings allege - The Economic Times
Meta reportedly halted internal research into the mental health impacts of Facebook and Instagram after finding causal evidence of harm. Internal documents revealed users reported lower depression and...

You think LLM-based chatbots can help students learn? Think again.

Take a few minutes to listen to Dr. @drtanksley.bsky.social clear explanation why this is very bad, harmful idea, especially for Black students.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood made more explicit her argument that when ethnic minorities face racism, "we have no choice but to ask: what is the cause of our division"

Her answer is the level of net migration, 2019-23 causes racism. (She on Monday said it was caused by the scale of asylum)

The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

I think it’s time for a change at #SAFC Women. That performance was totally unacceptable. We look bereft of ideas, tactically naive and lacking in confidence.

Question is, will anyone in the hierarchy at the club even notice let alone think about doing anything about it?

KLD’s total lack of interest in the Lasses confirmed as the look to offload a chunk of #SAFC women rather than put in the time, effort & investment needed to take them to the next level. The lad has done great things for our club & maybe this will be a positive move, I worry it will create a divide
