I don't dispute artists being paid what they deserve but I do badly wish there I could get a tattoo without spending $600 and still allowing the tattoo artist to get paid.
I'm aware it's paradoxical, hence the deep frustration. A lot of artists still struggle to get by even with high prices.

This. I learned from tumblr (of all things) that follower count means little for engagement. 20 followers who interact regularly is worth leagues more than 1,000 who dont.
Seeing that number grow can be nice but it’s about the small handful of regulars who chose to interact with your posts who show up in your notifications that’s your audience and is a fraction of a percentage of the big number.
way too many people still see follower count as a status symbol of prestige or importance when it's really better understood as the unfortunate, burdensome side effect of trying too hard to make like 8 specific people laugh
