I am into retro video games and comic books. So I am pinning my big box PC collection. I plan on moving soon, so everything is in boxes, ironic I know, and these aren't even all of them, so when I do manage to move, I am going to make a new thread that is actually organized.
Ritual Entertainment's seminal Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K.² released in 2000. This is a pretty early Quake 3 Engine based game, but what sets it apart is that Ritual developed their own set of middleware tools called ÜberTools to enhance the engine quite a bit. This weird game is a favorite of mine.
It's the classic you need a straight man to put the zany one into perspective. The absurdity of the circumstances is what sells it.
People keep suggesting Muppet Show hosts that are wacky and high energy. Watch the old show...

Some of the best guests were always the ones that were old, low energy, and slightly grumpy.

This is extremely work in progress and part of a HUGE undertaking, but I wanted to share some "proof of life" for getting Game Informer magazine's original screenshot captures from way back in 1993 recovered off of digital backup tapes. If they had any lost builds, we might be able to recover images

Messianic indeed
The back page of '00s video game magazines doesn't just feature games - sometimes, it features messianic proclamations for toy lines related to games! (Hi, Sonic X, c.2006.)

Is hyperbole a crime now? Do we have to stop referring to songs as catchy and infectious because music isn’t actually a disease?
When I was an editor at Twinfinite, years ago now, this was one of the biggest things I tried to impress upon people - cutting out the world addictive. Unless it, of course, is specifically talking about actual addiction. One of the best examples of how game jargon can be detrimental
I cut addictive out of so many reviews. Unless you are talking about predatory mechanics that are literally designed to manipulate people in habit-forming ways, do not use it as "game is too fun!"

My biggest issue with omnibus collections of comic books is just how no one makes any good ones. All of them are of extremely poor quality and aren't very reader-friendly with poor tight binding and images lost into the gutter. Then they just fall apart if you attempt to read them.

Like if you want an interesting deconstruction of Batman you want Batman: White Knight. It’s also not written by an edgelord hack.
Totally being a hater, but I find DC Absolute line to be pretty meh. We’re like a decade away from the height of deconstructionist media. This doesn’t do anything interesting at all and just keeps comics in its current infantile state.

If you happen upon a man standing at a crossroads while traveling down a long, dusty road, and if he just so happens to offer you your deepest, darkest desires in exchange for your soul, you should probably go for it. You weren't doing anything useful with it to begin with.

I am not overly interested in men, but every now and then I see one, always fictional, I could easily go straight for.

Catchy theme song but the writing lacked behind the other Disney shows like Ducktales or Rescue Rangers.
Gummi Bears

Did you love it, hate it, or were you completely indifferent to it?

I loved the theme song but I didn't actually enjoy the episodes much I don't think. I liked the colours.

I loved this game as a kid, and I still do, but I will always curse the 90s for the misguided idea that video games had to be made harder for the US market. This is another example of a game where they made it harder for the USA than the Japanese original.

Or better yet, don't use Microsoft's software at all. Better security literally using anything else. Try the Hannah Montana Linux distro. As a bonus, it's on the BDS boycott list, so you can ease your consciousness.
Microsoft has confirmed it will hand over BitLocker encryption recovery keys to the FBI. You definitely should not be accepting Microsoft’s default of storing BitLocker keys in the cloud when signing into Windows with an MS account www.theverge.com/news/867244/...

I've played this once. They would also then make Heavy Metal: Geomatrix which is basically the same game as this but with the Heavy Metal FAKK2 characters.
