Loved this line: “What changed was not climate alone, but the disappearance of the animals that once made wildfire boring.”

There are no longer any “adults in the room,” sadly. The GOP should be publicly, daily reminded of Powell’s “Pottery Barn” rule of foreign affairs.

“This is the way.”

Someone should ask CJ Roberts if he’s yet “concerned about the incivility.”

I was actually giving him the Peter Principle benefit-of-the-doubt... until I saw his first broadcast. Hard to believe it's only gotten worse since then, but here we are.

Recipients can do with the medals as they wish, but that doesn't change who officially received the award.

I mean, there will certainly be a lot of SoFl folks, meaning fewer flights, fewer hotels, etc. but still lots of restaurant costs, among others. Hard to make oranges-to-oranges comparisons.

It won’t affect TV viewership, though — like ND, Miami is a national-level “hate-or-love” team in college FB.

I’m not sure what to say when my own kids don’t even ask me to review their ecology homework, lol.

With one potent carcinogenic factor being those old Dem consultants recommending against public, righteous outrage.
Yes, JD. Let’s ask them if they think a stay at home mom, avowed Christian, and widow of a veteran deserved to be shot in the face and left to bleed out in her own car after dropping her 6-year-old off at school, for the crime of looking out for her neighbors. Let’s ask everyone running for office.

Don’t threaten me with a good time.

Correct... unfortunately.

Something, something, "leopards faces" comes to mind.

Details matter (at least to adults): www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/9/...

There’s a good reason why most of that crude oil has — and wjll — stay put.
Venezuela has the world’s most oil: Why doesn’t it earn more from exports?
Venezuela holds the world's largest proven oil reserves, more than five times more than the United States.

This is so bonkers it’s almost impossible to describe.

I miss times so boring that I didn’t even think about what our President was doing for days at a time.

You wouldn’t know it from the non-stop, breathless coverage of about two dozen Venezuelans with flags by our local Miami CBS station.

There's a difference between "never been seen before!" (solved with better exploration technology) and "couldn't possibly" (reflecting poorly understood physiology mechanisms). Still, great point.

I'm now "Pottery Barn Rule" years-old. Deeply ironic (but no longer surprising, sadly) that Will's column today was published by one of the papers that was leaked information about the abduction mission... and chose not to tell anyone.

Also, the dads and moms who start *teaching* said kids again today — my first class is at 9 am.

Sure would be interesting for someone (UK? France? Venezuela?) to call an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council right now. Russia and PRC might go along just to see how much they can help destabilize the USA internally.

Oh, and I have no doubt that the Roberts SCOTUS will create a reason why Trump v United States only applies to Republican Presidents.

Under what legal authority is the USA now operating as an international kidnapping cartel?

Bonus: tools like Bari Weiss might fall under a Dunning-Kruger effect and actually agree to show before their attorneys panic and they withdraw.

Would love to see a journalism school at a major university convene a panel on journalistic ethics. Invite all the main players, see who declines.

I’d PPV to see a real conversation with folks like John Dickerson and Rachel Maddow publicly eviscerate those who declined attending.

Note too the (not so) subtle framing of “academics” with “elite” here. This whole statement was carefully wordsmithed.

It’s home-ported in Pompano Beach. Could be a training run?

“Because stewardship doesn’t show up on efficiency metrics. Because expertise takes years to build and seconds to dismiss.”

Never forget that surveys still show broad public support for science. It’s the institutional memories across agencies that is likely gone forever.

Imagine if Carter’s solar panels on the White House were still running!
