I like that line from Buffy: "If every vampire who said he was at the crucifixion was actually there, it would have been like Woodstock"

Just passed a Baskin Robbin’s that had a sign in the window that said “NO CASH KEPT IN STORE OVERNIGHT.” Please! Like I’d be breaking in for cash!

*Neonates ask an extremely old Carthaginian vampire if Jesus was real*

"I'm going to be honest, I was not paying attention to current events in Judah at that time. I never even heard of Jesu until over a century after his supposed death. Big fan of Gregorian chants, though."

I like how in the first edition of Vampire: The Masquerade, becoming human again is a very real possibility. I also understand why they downplayed or removed that possibility in later editions.

It's something that should be left up to individual GMs imo.

This post quite clearly shows the links between the European far-right’s efforts to erase complicity in the Holocaust, and the American right’s efforts to erase the history of slavery and Jim Crow. Which is part of why supporting DEI in the US should be seen as a Jewish issue.
This message from the US State Department about "not wanting allies to be shackled by guilt and shame" is a pretty direct call-out to the German far-right argument that Germany has spent too long feeling guilty about the Holocaust, and needs to move on and stop doing remembrance.

The Democrats agenda however isn't to win or god forbid actually wield power, it's to keep the left from power.

There’s a dialectical relationship between the far right here and there where USA is treated as a mythological touchstone. Our reactionaries inspire European reactionaries, and vice versa.

Hitlers fascination with cowboy westerns is emblematic of this dynamic.

any time I give remarks in Europe I talk about how the US is where it is by weaponizing anti-migrant sentiment, punishing speech starting with pro-Palestine speakers and then expanding, and ignoring the disgruntled far-right, bc like over half of the countries in the EU are like…five years behind us

I speak in Germany with regularity (and with gratitude!) and the number of people who say things to me like ‘how could that happen!!!’ as the German gov’t restricts speech critical of Israel and has a full neo-Nazi party gaining ground in every election…wild

a lot of ppl in the USA would’ve said this exact thing less than a decade ago, and a lot of ppl who live in countries with large far-right political movements rapidly gaining ground (often helped by the same tech billionaire players as here) seem too busy looking askance at the States to notice
It's great to live in a country (Canada, Japan, UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Italy, etc.) where citizens don't worry about if the next election will be canceled, if they will be allowed to register to vote, if they will have to stand in line for hours to vote, or if their vote will be counted.

If I were a Democrat concerned about winning elections and was hearing that a significant number of voters wouldn’t support Gavin Newsom in 2028, I would simply stop pushing Gavin Newsom in 2026.
look if you want to freak out about people not voting newsom if he's the nominee a week before the 2028 general election, I kinda get it (but don't say you weren't warned). doing it now though is just a weird attempt to strong arm people into supporting him in the primary.
I think most (not all) of the "I will never vote for Gavin Newsom" people are communists who are mad that Americans don't like communism and want to destroy the Democratic party out of revenge. They don't care how many elections Republicans win or how many trans people die as long as the Dems fall.

These bills are not designed to more appropriately punish perpetrators of child sexual abuse; they are designed to suppress its being reported in the first place, for exactly the reason mentioned above

The fact that it's almost exclusively Republican governments passing bills like this should give people pause considering we all already know what they're about
As a child protection professional, I can tell you the death penalty is NOT an awesome solution to child sexual abuse. Most children are abused by family members; they will not report if their family members will die as a result.

Yeah I like to think that it was very much not a coincidental thing that Marx’s favorite Latin motto/personal maxim was “Homo sum, humani nihil a me alienum puto” [‘I am human, nothing that is human is alien to me’]
theres a reason this baldwin quote is my guiding light in the world. im an artist and a communist. reading is my passport into humanity.
