Just re-covered 2 John McPhee books so they look all pretty and someone will check them out, but I am mad that Basin and Range doesn't have a map in it! What's the point of a geology book with no maps???? #librarylife #petpeeve

This is the first time in history the court has considered rolling back this right.

The main function of AI is to make all text on the internet untrustworthy unless you personally know the source. We will boil the oceans and price people out of heat in winter for this.

The latest issue of Cooks Illustrated ended up on my desk, and there is an article about optimizing grilled cheese. This is very relevant to my interests..... YUM. (Good thing I just had lunch.)

This is amazing.
I note this every year at this time: so much of Minnesota exceptionalism is wholly unwarranted but we absolutely fucking rule for this.
The wiki entry for the flag has subsections for THREE CENTURIES of Virginia throwing big pissy tantrums over their shitty rag, and Minnesotans just laughing them off. It rules. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/28th_Vi...

So one of the things that I think is lost on AI proponents is what I call the card catalog effect, a thing I shouldn’t call it because a lot of people probably have no experience with a card catalog.

My book group meets at 6:30 tonight (10 hours away). I have a 7.5-hour workday ahead of me and 128 pages to go. I think I can do this!!

We have minimal heat at work. I'm wearing fleece-lined leggings, a heavy velour skirt, two sweaters, a scarf, fingerless gloves and a hat. And fur-lined boots. It's about 55F or so in here.... Gotta love working for municipal government agencies!

If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.
