These are prisons.

The criminalization of homelessness and push towards mandated, coerced medical interventions and civil commitment—a bipartisan project—was always going to lead us here.

This is why when we talk about, strategize and organize around abolition, we must include ALL carceral spaces.
Under Trump, the draconian future of homelessness policy is coming into focus: mass internment. Utah is building a 16-acre site to detain up to 1,300 homeless people inside locked "accountability centers." This is profoundly alarming.

The living Israeli hostages have been released as part of a ceasefire deal that also saw about 2000 Palestinian prisoners freed.

Wait, but why are the Israelis “hostages” and the Palestinians “prisoners”?

In today’s video, that’s the question we’re exploring:

"Protesters are expected to absorb violence but never inflict it—to function as shock absorbers to be acted upon, whose sympathetic value is nullified by any deviation from that standard ... under capitalism, 'peace' is the maintenance of violence on the state’s terms."
"If your tactics disrupt the order of things under capitalism, you may well be accused of violence, because 'violence' is an elastic term often deployed to vilify people who threaten the status quo. Conditions that the state characterizes as 'peaceful' are, in reality, quite violent."

May Palestinians have a moment to breathe, gather, mourn, rest, and live.

A reminder for the rest of us. Korea has been under ceasefire for 70 years, technically still at war, and still occupied by the U.S. Empire.
We are not yet free. I wish more for Korea.

I wish more for Palestine, too.

I know this is a joke. But what specifically would you do if you got a surprise "grandma" money or care package in the mail? Doesn't have to be from your actual grandma but like, the idea of the surprise cash or care.

What's in your ideal care package? What's in the realistic one?

Why annexing Canada would destroy the United States
Americans have already been defeated by insurgents all over the world. Invading Canada would be no exception.

Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans just shut down the government to push their extreme agenda. They’d rather strip Medicaid, eliminate SNAP benefits, and close rural hospitals than keep our government open.

It’s appalling.

Apparently one of my favourite flowers will come back as a volunteer. I had no idea, and without the climate and zone change creating a longer growing season here, I may have never have discovered this.

It doesn't belong with the potatoes but it makes me happy. Way to go, flower!

NEW: “Remigration” and “mass deportations” is the new rallying cry of white nationalists. Experts say it’s a call for ethnic cleansing. A new Canadian group is trying to "normalize" the concept and get the Conservative Party of Canada to talk more about immigration.

So why don't the #LabourDayClassic @cfl.ca games highlight labour at all? Have some Union reps sing the anthem, talk about the player's association, anything at all to do with labour.

Oddly, it seems to be about the military instead. Strange considering their historic role in relation to labour.
