the last time dems held a supermajority was 09 and the party passed

>ACA which was the largest expansion of the social safety net since 1972
>hate crime protections for actual or perceived gender/gender identity/sexuality/disability
>20 extra weeks of UI

the supermajority lasted a total of 58 days
This is what Democrats do. They wait for the GOP to royally drop the ball then they supermajorities with which they pass GOP policies. Then they get their teeth kicked in and spend another decade in the wilderness.

CSPAN cut the feed after the press conference but the members of Congress and Senators have entered the main lobby where USAID HQ is located. The door is being blocked by law enforcement.

No one elected Elon Musk.

As Donald Trump allows Musk to access people’s personal information and shut down government funding, Republicans in Washington will also own the consequences.

We must do everything in our power to push back and protect people from harm.

The men carrying out Musk's coup are Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, Luke Farritor, Gautier Cole Killian, Gavin Kliger, and Ethan Shaotran.

Make them famous. And, eventually, when possible, arrest them and charge them with multiple felonies. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

I'm glad that America is doing real classic end of empire stuff. A king who is visibly losing his mind declaring a war based on a dream he had. Greedy courtiers feuding over access to the treasury. Some looks are timeless.

I don't really understand the concept of American politics on any level but it does strike me that a head of government that wrecks the economy before the first budget seems like the kind of person who can't get a budget through at all.

DONALD TRUMP STOLE YOUR BEER is probably an effective message for three weeks from now
even if your beer is made locally, the cans and the kegs in which it's stored usually isn't, that aluminum's coming from canada and it's about to go through the roof.

Just to remind everyone, again, there is no "fentanyl issue," and there is no action Canada can take to "sort" it. It is merely a legal fiction to justify a US national emergency under IEEPA.

Canada's retaliation:

4) Not just trade: this is not a standard trade war; it's just bullyism. Not tit for tat or dollar for dollar tariffs. Those are 3-word slogans. Think broader than trade.

Hit them *hard* but strategically. Uranium? Germanium? Alaska access? Tesla? Put it all on the table.

i think this should be factored into how states, counties, localities and hospitals respond to these executive orders. "we will investigate you if you teach DEI." okay, with what agents, specifically? with what state capacity?
NYT reported that the number of potentially affected agents is as high as 6k. The bureau has about 13.7k agents total
What a hideous headline. Folks calling the shots here are just corrupt banana republic trash.

I know that all these institutions know how to push back because when Obama directed them to enforce pre-existing Title IX law, universities said no.

They flat out refused until there was a working group and specific guidelines. And even then, they *still* refused.
