In England, our half-time entertainment consists of a 1990s footballer earnestly explaining the offside rule, and a detailed preview of tomorrow’s match involving a Manchester team.

The end of this year's Wolf Moon this evening as it rose still 'fullish' as it cleared the clouds. A lovely colour! 97.3% waning gibbous.

On the train from Centraal to Schiphol, my hand luggage was stolen. A Dutch woman came to my rescue, phoned my bank so I could cancel my cards and took me to the police bureau so I could report it. Stayed with me to make sure I was OK.
Incidentally she was the first of many who helped me.
I would like to hear about a time someone, a stranger even, was very kind to you without any prompting, ulterior motive, or strings attached.

Say this man’s name. Ahmed al Ahmed. A man of unimaginable bravery.
Ahmed al Ahmed, the man who tackled one of the Bondi killers, became an Australian citizen 3 years ago.

His deed was "his way of conveying his gratitude for staying in Australia, for being granted citizenship."

He took 5 bullets, and fears he'll lose his left arm.

I genuinely hate having to plug my work on here. I would rather post my cartoons and drawings without a link to my website, but unfortunately social media is an important element of our business, so I have to do it. I do appreciate the reposts and thank you for the support since I came to Bluesky.

@ellengofton.bsky.social I hope you don't mind my asking but what part of UK are you from as Gofton is an unusual name. It was my mum's maiden name and she was born near Gateshead.

Bus conductors. 🚍🎫
What’s a real thing from your childhood that kids these days would find completely foreign?

Like, how we used to be able to walk right up to the gate to meet our family coming off a flight.

Or how we had to pick a spot to meet at the theater BEFORE we went.

Informative and very moving thread. #7/7
One other 7/7 thread today. Because I think how the bus network got running again is a real testament to some serious heroes that day:

The bus drivers and staff who got that network running again and got London home that night.

And TfL/the Mayor disobeyed the Security Services to make it happen /1
