Will I complain about Warhammer 40k minis? Yes, everyone will. The least I can do is make my complaint unique.

One of the things I really like about zombie horror is the maths of it.
Nobody ever talks about the simple, beautiful, *maths* of it.

Affinity 3 is nice, folks.
Vector manipulation is MUCH more beginner friendly, there are lots of nice QOL upgrades (typography persona! copy flattened/merged!), and in playing with it now, I've discovered workflows that would have saved me about an hour earlier today.

I wasn't going to say anything about the biggest TTRPG convention in the UK promoting AI slop, but then the slop makers said "everyone uses gen AI, we're just honest about it", and I fucking saw red.
Make your own art. Even if it's rancid garbage, it's still better than a machine's hallucination.

Going to a small, local comic and nerd con tomorrow. It's not that I don't enjoy explaining what a TTRPG is to new people, but it is an 8 hour day, and not everyone wants to talk to vendors anyway... so I have made an introvert-friendly sign.

Crowdfunding is supposed to derisk the expensive process of making new things. If it can't do that it's just a marketing channel.
Crowdfunders should break even when they fund and it sucks that companies feel that's not viable.
(Not criticising any creators, just the crowdfunding hustle)

A system that demands artists misrepresent the reality of creating things is just fundamentally broken, and we're poorer for allowing those assumptions to become baseline.
Bring your dog and pony show, or you can't even get on stage.

We’ve had a great start! Stellar, even.
As I am forever pathologically transparent: We still have around $75k to go before our actual break-even point on this project.
Making four gorgeous, info-dense books all in one go is expensive, y’all. (Not a complaint!)

This parallels some thoughts I was having about TTRPG production last night. You have to leave space for the "hey, what if we..." stuff that emerges in the design process, that you can only uncover as it comes together.
That's how you go from good to great.
Yes, layout artists hate me.

One of the most valuable things a game production can do is arrange deadlines so that there is time to do polish but also finishing adjustments and fun additions AFTER all the features are stood up.
Multiple iterations. Stuff like doing an "add secrets" pass on every level after they're finished.

Today's conceptual earworm:
When 'ordinary schoolboy' Eric ate a banana, he turned into Bananaman, an adult. This was in the early-to-mid 80s. I'd estimate him to have been around 10.
He would now be in his 50s. If he eats a banana, he will turn into a geriatric banana person.
