Yes, this is as close their 'kiss' got. A reminder that where empathy is feigned (here, it *never* existed), affection too will *always* be feigned. Affection and love cannot exist where empathy is absent. And anything that resembles love or affection is just parroted behavior. #BodyLanguageExpert

So, we spent $22M for Trump to go to the Super Bowl so he could lie about getting applause when they booed the shit out of him so much that he left early?

It's cool. Shohei doesn't need the money and he would never complain about his contract. The ultimate team player deferring millions so the team can sign quality players.
Sadly, I don't know that they have the wisdom and foresight to do that. The baseball gods would certainly reward the Dodgers even MORE than they already have if they did so, too. I'm sure of it...😔

The way our medical system utilizes doctors is basically the equivalent of the Dodgers having Shohei Ohtani sit out every other game so he can work as a hot dog vendor

His contract was a heist for the Dodgers. For someone whose production places him "2 standard deviations" above everybody else, agent Nick Chanock of the Wasserman Group argued that Shohei Ohtani deserved to be paid "$200 million [more than] the next guy"...

He really should've been $1 billion.

If THAT is what the price for Juan Soto was, I'm so glad neither the Red Sox nor the Dodgers signed him.

Mets ownership understands that the size of the Shohei contract was related to his being a hitter, a pitcher AND a unique global brand, right?

Soto is... one of those things.

Shohei is a more valuable offensive player alone....more power and more speed. Let alone a Cy Young contender when healthy. Soto is a great player, likely HOFer, but not the same unique value only Shohei could bring.

I think the Dodgers should renegotiate Shohei's contract by giving him a percentage of the revenues he brings in.
This much is true, Soto followed Pedro Martinez's advice and Ohtani did not.

What did Martinez say? "Baseball is a dirty business. Don't be nice to the teams"

I'm not going to fault any player for their decisions. I am, however, going to side eye the Dodgers if they ever do Shohei dirty. #Karma 🫵

He was Mike Trout, Juan Soto, and Shohei Ohtani as a hitter all rolled into one.

Even before PEDs, Barry Bonds was probably the most perfect offensive baseball player of all time.

(And was a gold glove defender in LF too!)
My son asked me who was the best hitter I’ve ever seen and I told him Barry Bonds. He asked why was Bonds better than Mike Trout, Shohei or Juan Soto.

There was a game where a team intentionally walked Barry Bonds with the bases loaded and it was the right move.
