"The greatest mistake is to imagine that the human being is an autonomous individual. The secret freedom which you can supposedly enjoy under a despotic government is nonsense, because your thoughts are never entirely your own." — Orwell, April 28, 1944

Need more of this. It's not hard.
We should understand two things:

1. No Democrat will ever get away with even the smallest inconsistency or error as long as The New York Times is around.

2. The press now just assumes people know how thoroughly corrupt Tr-mp and the Republican Party are, so meh.
All I see on my Twitter timeline are reporters parsing every quote from AOC in Germany, trying to mock them for incoherence or inaccuracy, while a demented old man who can’t string sentences together or stay awake sits in the Oval, while the legacy media happily sanewashes his quotes.

Major distinction.
The legacy media keeps getting this wrong. Trump didn't say "nationalize the election."

He said We should take over the VOTING in at least many—15 places.' The Republicans ought to nationalize the VOTING."

There is a big difference.

The Tr-mps. Fleecing America since Moses was a zygote.

Why aren't our Democratic leaders on every platform shouting about this blatant act of attempted theft?
Right-wing Heritage Foundation’s own data shows fewer than 100 noncitizens voted since 1982 (!!!)

This is not a real problem. “The SAVE ACT is a Trojan horse to nationalize elections”: open.substack.com/pub/thiswill...

A child dying of cancer spent her final days fighting to free her wrongfully detained father from ICE custody.

This comes just weeks after a mother from Maryland was denied the right to be at her son’s side as he died from cancer.

Not one dime for this cruelty.

If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, gun reform, universal child care, and a living wage.

The right-wing agenda isn’t about “life.”

It’s about control.

Obviously, he's suffering from Lindsey Graham syndrome.

Sadly, and infuriatingly, a scandalous story like this simply gets swept away in the flood of corruption and incompetence that is the Tr-mp "administration."
The Dilley family detention center is run by CoreCivic, a major Trump donor who has raked in millions from federal contracts already.

Never forget who is profiting from this cruelty.

Yeah, well, Don Bacon is playing games, too. He could change parties today and change House leadership.
Legislator wants to legislate, while Mike Johnson is determined to play every game possible to prevent the House from interfering with the imperial presidency he serves.

Your brain on Tr-mp.
Burgum: "CO2 was never a pollutant. When we breathe, we emit CO2. Plants need CO2 to survive and grow. They thrive with more CO2. So the whole endangerment thing opens up an opportunity for the revival of clean, beautiful, American coal."

The "left wing of our party" really isn't a thing on Bluesky these days. Most Bluesky lefties absolutely hate the Democratic Party.
Judging by my totally scientific polling here, it appears that there is absolutely no one, not one single human, that the left wing of our party can name that they would like to see run for president in 2028. Brilliant.
February 6, 2026 at 2:39 PM
Absolutely correct.

From the Tea Party movement—began 2 months after Obama's inauguration—to Tr-mp floating birtherism on Fox—endearing him to millions of racist Republicans—to that goddamned escalator speech in 2015, it's been white skin supremacy that best explains why we're here now.
Pour one out for every professional political pundit, writer, consultant whatever that has spent the last decade trying to pretend that the Trump phenomenon was about trade or opiates and not a big chunk of white america losing its mind over having a black president bsky.app/profile/kyle...

Somebody needs to explain to me how we can fix this "despite judge's order" stuff.

Because inevitably, judges somewhere are going to order the Tr-mp thugs to stay away from our right to cast votes in peace, and then what happens when they ignore them?
February 6, 2026 at 12:23 PM
I wish this were possible.

But I lived through the catastrophic 2008 Republican crash, watched Obama get elected overwhelmingly because of it—and a mere two months after his inauguration, the Tea Party movement started, which ultimately brought us to Tr-mp.

We're cursed with stupidity.
I say it again and again...the Repugnican party must be totally obliterated in the upcoming elections, so that there will never be even the remotest possibility that a shitshow like this can ever happen again.

Vote as if your very existence depends on it ... BECAUSE IT DOES!!!
