Caffeinated queer fiction writer.
Currently querying: adult fantasy
Back on this app to announce that I have finally written a synopsis after weeks of agony and I can now begin querying my novel! If you like witches, tattoo magic, and hot lesbian investigators riding motorcycles, watch this space ⚡️ #amquerying

Writing a 1-2 page synopsis is about as painful as I imagine the application of magic is in my novel (which is to be repeatedly stabbed with a needle lol). Anyway if you like tattoo magic and a good dose of pain this book is for you

Have done very little actual writing lately so trying to remind myself that every addition I make to my notes/outline is progress and therefore does, in fact, count as writing

I have five different novels going on in my head now and it’s getting kinda crowded in here #amwriting

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, “I’m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.”

That one song that spawns a whole book in your head every time 🤌🏼

maybe you feel art is pointless right now because its not saying how you're feeling. maybe you need to make something ugly, something sad. maybe you need to donate your skills to local organizations, zines, to see your art in community and praxis. it's never pointless. but you (can) make it pointed.

I wish I could find images of the bruises my partner had the day after getting shot with "rubber" bullets.

Bright purple rings the size of dinner plates. Just astonishing damage.

The hematoma one of them left never healed.

And that was fired from a distance of like 30 yards

It's always rough throwing out words you worked hard to write but all the more satisfying reaching a better version when you rewrite and rewrite again. My new version of chapter one is finally shaping up! #amediting

When I first started drafting my book I rewrote my opening chapter probably 18 times until I got it “right”. Now I’m rewriting it again after finishing the book and I don’t know why I’m surprised it’s taking multiple attempts to get it right (again). There is no evidence to support otherwise 😅

The idea of AI-generated fanfic hurts my soul and also makes me want to vomit.

Fanfic is a gift. Fanfic is a sharing of joy. Fanfic is an act of taking the power of storytelling BACK from corporatization.

And fanfic is born from a writer’s relationship with the original work.

AI can't have that.

Getting stuck while we're writing is a feature, not a bug. It's the point of the exercise. It's what happens when we are trying to express something we have not expressed before. That friction forces us to make the tools we need to understand and express it. Getting stuck is how we make meaning.

Feel like it needs to be stated (repeatedly) that I have absolutely zero (0) interest in generative AI. I have never entered a prompt into ChatGPT or any other AI program. I have written every single word of my novel myself, without machine assistance, and intend to keep it this way.

When reading fiction -- even bad fiction! -- one can ask, "What did the author MEAN to communicate? What did they imagine the audience would be feeling at point? What is being conveyed?"

But with AI text the answer is nothing. There is no emotion. There is no author.

TIL that after the shooting death of CEO Brian Thompson UnitedHealthcare approved many life-saving medical procedures it has been holding out on because of sudden internal panic and public scrutiny. So, Luigi (innocent until proven guilty) probably saved more lives than he took.

do you remember

before social media

when the web was an infinite mysterious forest of things people had created, for free, for other people

like you'd just stumble on this guy's Geocities page where he'd posted the sketches he'd done of every vegetable in his garden

the web made me love humanity

I also feel like it is incredibly important, in the year of our Grok 2025, to have the biggest box office hit of the decade (or more) be a wholly original work of cinematic art that literally no one except this specific human artist could have conceived

fuck your cheap AI screenplays

Finally saw "Sinners." GotDAMN that was good. It's so beautiful to see a Black creative, in the fullness of his power, ignore all the "shoulds" and conventions and just COOK. That movie was so good it made me come home and write.
