Just a reminder that even while being Putin’s petulant stooge and shaming our country Trump is also inevitably a liar.
Zelenky stood in front of the American government, in the seat of our democracy, and thanked our entire nation. Every farmer, teacher, engineer, nurse, and cop. Thanked us on behalf of his entire country. youtu.be/7gjwlCe5T6M?...

This is going to be another rough week for our colleagues in government & for all of us. Vast cuts of govt scientists hurts everyone’s health.

Let’s talk about what this will do to vaccines.

This is the process. Here’s how they’re going to undermine it:

No, the meeting did not go badly for Ukraine. It exposed in the most undeniable, unequivocal way possible the pro-Putin commitments of the president and vice president. That was information Americans and allies needed to have clear before them.

Grateful for Vanessa Wills’ perspective here. It also reminds me to question my learned inner cop voice. If I don’t have anything constructive to say, it’s maybe time for me to listen and learn.

More of this.
It took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours, and 40 minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic.

When the fire starts to burn, every good person better be ready to man a post with a bucket of water if you want to stop it from raging out of control.

The state has accumulated a $5B
tax surplus while squeezing local governments to cover the rising costs of (and need for) support staff. Your AP, your HVAC tech, your counselor, etc. They’re all working so much harder bc the state abdicated their responsibility to students and staff. 🪴
"...the cap was put in place in 2009 as a cost-cutting measure and limits the number of support staff — a broad category that includes most administrative, technical, clerical, maintenance and instructional aide jobs — the state will fund." www.richmonder.org/state-budget...
State budget proposals include two key RPS priorities: more funding for staff and school construction
Both proposals will still have to make it through what are likely to be difficult budget negotiations.

Legal challenges are an important part, but only part, of what Democrats need to be doing.

Legal challenges, procedural delays in Congress, protests to draw attention to the crisis ... it all matters, and the component parts will strengthen each other.
Dems are fighting back in the courts!

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced that there are currently more than 20 lawsuits challenging 11 of Donald Trump’s executive orders.

seeing takes about the aid institutions and their role in imperialism. correct. If someone said "investor-owned hospitals exploit the vulnerable to benefit shareholders" I'd nod. If their followup was "and that's why I'm turning off your mom's dialysis machine" I'd...have some followup questions
But when it comes to cutting aid budgets no one says “let’s spend less money on Israeli or Egyptian military capacity”. Instead you want to start by taking healthcare and education away from people who have been made vulnerable by the structural injustices you create and benefit from.

Elon Musk's mother moved to South Africa in the year Apartheid was created, and she and Elon left the year it ended. The last Apartheid Prime Minister, a man who refused to testify at the Truth and Reconciliation Committee, was a family friend who stayed at their home. This is not a crazy theory.

As with many ProPublica stories, this is worth your time. It is about 3M's role in "forever chemicals." While it is not a new line of thought, there is a lot to consider about how corporate america is run.
