In patients with myocardial infarction and anemia, a liberal red blood cell transfusion strategy showed no significant difference in quality of life outcomes compared to a restrictive strategy 30 days post-randomization.

I made the same point in a KI Reports paper a few years ago: erythropoietin resistance index (ERI) looks like a novel metric, but really, it provides no better risk discrimination than ESA dose itself. Big ESA dose = higher risk of MACE.
