Sad news to share.

I just received word that Steve Hargan, who made five starts for the Toronto Blue Jays in their first season (1977), died on October 30th at the age of 83.

My condolences to his family.

Rest in peace, Steve.

RIP Donna Jean - she and her talents are misunderstood by so many deadheads. My respect for her only grew once I came to know what working in all-male environments can be like.

Has this World Series consistently featured the highest quality of baseball? No. Has it featured the widest array possible of beautiful, weird, specific baseball delights? Yes.

1997: Marlins beat Cleveland (11 innings)
2016: Cubs beat Cleveland (10 innings)
2025: Dodgers beat Jays (11 innings)

Last night I thought we might witness a failure-to-dislodge FARTSLAM resembling this one⬇️

6/19/2008: Prince Fielder hits an inside-the-park hr after the ball gets stuck in the outfield wall. Jays OF Alex Rios argues w/ the ump instead of making efforts to dislodge the baseball

I’m seeing a number of columns critiquing legal and accessible gambling, and leagues and teams for taking the money for partnerships Which is good!

I’m seeing no columns reflection on media organizations‘ partnerships with sports books and their role in the system. Which is less good!
