They can't afford future raises in the police contract OR the new firefighter contract. That's just reality. Those employees have received the lion's share of raises for years and they can't keep lavishing them w/ money while ignoring EMS and every other city priority. That's what this budget does.

Here are the proposed budget cuts from Prop Q failing, it's pretty rough. The idea that Kirk Watson says they shouldn't reopen the police contract given the scale of destruction that terrible decision is causing is straight-up governing malpractice. That's WHY they needed the tax increase!
