No rural hospital, no helicopter flights to an ER, no life-saving care available while she was bleeding out during the trip. This was not so long ago and the situation in Texas is much worse since. I haven't checked lately but the TX maggats wouldn't even update the maternal mortality stats. /4

I met a still-young Austin hospitality worker whose children were all adults because she had them at a younger age than what is now the new normal. She almost died in the course of one pregnancy before she could be transported by private vehicle to the Brack emergency room from Bastrop county. /3
