People who don't know anything about #epilepsy may appear ignorant at first. Let's make it a point to teach before judging ๐Ÿ’œ

MYTH: People with epilepsy cannot drive.
FACT: Those with controlled epilepsy are perfectly okay to drive! Driving restrictions are usually temporary, only requiring the operator has gone a certain amount of time without seizure activity.

Happy Tuesday! A bit of a social media break was needed, but we're back! Do any of you take social media breaks when things get a little too stressful?

Happy Valentine's Day to all! Today isn't the only day to express love and gratitude. It's our hope that each day is filled with love and gratitude toward our family, friends, care team, and anyone else who understands WHY we fight to hold it constantly when it's so easy to give up ๐Ÿ’œ

That is a great thought! Though most are able to put emergency info on their phone's lock screen, the watch would be a quick one-stop shop for responders and allow them to go back to their duties sooner ๐Ÿ˜€

Love it! I have a "sport" and "everyday" style. Though I made sure the "everyday" was also waterproof and durable, because I get highly infuriated at taking bracelets on and off! So the only difference really is the sport band doesn't slip ๐Ÿ˜€

Have you ever heard of "emotional blunting"? Us either! It's not a direct relationship with #epilepsy, we just found it to be interesting in our journey to understand each other better! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’œ

For many people with epilepsy, a "clock reset" is slang term for a seizure, because the seizure resets the duration of time one has accumulated since the last seizure. -- When was your clock last reset? #EpilepsyAwareness

I made sure I checked out how to do it before the next post ๐Ÿ˜Š I really appreciate you bringing that up!

Absolutely stay informed. I was told I'm overreacting at Trump throwing the word "epilepsy"out there. His power has always come from fear & hatred. He's silenced trans people, everyone brown is an ICE target, reversed EEO which was heavily influenced by race discrimination. now who is there to hate?

February is Black History Month! DYK: African people are more likely to be diagnosed with epilepsy than those who originate from elsewhere.

It's hard to admit, but disability benefits/rights have potential to be interfered with in the near future. Let's try our best to keep vigilant on the nuances & plan as best as we can to maintain quality of life ๐Ÿ’œ plan for the worst, be delighted when it's not!

While we want to be positive, we have to consider this misinformation is going to hurt the way people perceive epilepsy, especially in the workplace, and it's okay to have strong emotions about the unknown.
January 31, 2025 at 6:15 PM
Turning tragedy into disability blaming is NOT how we want to promote #epilepsyawareness, but it's more important now than ever to speak up and tackle misinformation while it's a hot topic!
