Senior Lecturer in Immunology based at Blizard Institute, QMUL. My research focussed on life course immunology and the influence of age and sex, and life-course events such as menopause on the immune system in health and disease.

I am so proud to say that our paper is now available at Aging Cell. There is a paucity of data as to how the menopause impacts your immune system, and the aim of this study was to investigate the impact of the menopause on monocyte phenotype and function.

An exciting programme of talks today. Come and see my poster (17) about menopause as an immune ageing event.
Today we meet face to face for the first time!

Surprisingly, it is not yet obvious to all researchers and funding agencies that sex and gender matter in research, and should be recorded and addressed properly. So we wrote it authors.elsevier.com/c/1lxSmbah1w...

What happens to our immune systems as we get older? What happens after the menopause? Turns out monocytes are actually quite important in their own right!
