Finally finished putting some words down about why I love Death Stranding so much and why it's become a comfort game for me.

Free tier and paid members can access it on my site, Geryow, now geryow.com/wheres-my-bb...

Makes sense, like when everyone finally fell in love with U2 once Apple forced their album onto everyone’s phone.
Microsoft and Blackrock have "have largely given up on organic adoption [of AI] by consumers. They have moved on to a new dream of forced adoption mandated by government and managerial coercion."

Fascinating piece here on what Davos can teach us about the AI industry by @mattseybold.bsky.social

Finally got to watch Sinners this evening.

Wanted to watch it last year in the cinema but missed my chance due to various reasons.

But, I treated myself to it on Blu-ray recently.

I hope it actually wins a bunch of its Academy Award nominations.

Kiddo has just declared they're a potato, and then giggled.

Sssh, don't tell the knitting squad, but I've been doing some crochet to unwind these past few weeks. It's a scarf.

(Using up wool from previous projects.)

Just finished watching Tron: Ares for the first time.

It's not a bad film.

It's not the best, sure.

But it's not bad, just reasonably enjoyable.

(Also, someone behind had clearly watched Mr Robot, going by the use of Bash.)

I've just learned that ITV4 has gotten the rights to show some NHL games in the UK! Starting at 5:30pm today.

They're showing Buffalo Sabres vs Minnesota Wild.

In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

Daughter insisted on watching Pudsey and the Thread of Hope this afternoon.

My eyes are now a little sore from crying.

Kinda gross how little mainstream news in the UK has reported on the sheer extent of the damage caused by Storm Goretti in #Cornwall last week.

Local BBC and ITV news have been reporting but there's been little national from what I can see including traditional press.

Have gotten through the worst of the storm reasonably intact.

Though can't say the same for surrounding roads.

Storm is affecting TV signal. Trying to watch local news.

Have got a DAB radio as back up, but won't mean much if infrastructure goes down.

I noticed Skyrim is no longer listing itself as Steam Deck compatible on my system.

Searching around suggests this happened some time last week after a Deck update.

Been reading "Careless People" by Sarah Wynn-Williams before it's due to be returned to library.

You can blame Meta/FB for a load of s**t, but a chunk of blame should lie at the feet of regulators.

Anyway more people should probably borrow it from their local library

As if artists don't have enough to deal with, Amazon has a "Buy For Me" program in beta which is scraping indie shops for their items and putting them up on Amazon (often incorrectly), for their "AI agent" to buy from the other site. It is NOT opt in, and there is no opt out.
I just found out that our stuff is being sold on Amazon - WITHOUT our consent or any ability to opt out bc Amazon is just scraping artist’s websites and putting our shit in their search results. Again, without our permission.

The kind of trivia I need in my life.
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Watching on in horror as I examine a thread on r/Skyrim where some guy got his 9 year a copy of Skyrim and is letting the kid play it over Christmas break.

This is an 18 rated game in the UK, but I'm guessing OP is based in the US.

I hope the kid doesn't stumble into the Dark Brotherhood questline
