ALICE RUE EVADES THE TRUTH (10.28.25) and THE TWO LIVES OF AMELIA WAXLER (2026) from The Dial Press | writer of sapphic love stories | queer Jewish disabled dope | overly invested in women’s sports | rep by Courtney Miller-Callihan | linktr.ee/emilyzipps
So glad you enjoyed ALICE!! 💚💚
August was a really good month for reads!

I think my favorite was @emilyzipps.bsky.social’s Alice Rue Evades the Truth (drops in October, it’s remarkable, def buy it!) but @hanfrankan.bsky.social’s Faithbreaker was a super close second.

Also, I slept on audiobooks for too long.

7 years later and I still whisper, “We’re disabled, Daniel, not werewolves” to myself like a sacred mantra whenever I see a non-disabled person discover ableism like it’s the latest hipster indie band.

My threads account got suspended and I had to delete it, but I had a lot more author and bookish interaction over there than I do here. So if you’re interested in queer, sapphic, disabled, romance, genre, writing or reading, give me a shout!

Normal sapphic romance problem: having to use names so often in s*x or intimate scenes because pronouns are unclear

Next level problem: one character’s name ends in an S so you have to use an ugly ass possessive ALL THE TIME.

“She takes Ames’s hand and kisses Ames’s head” UGHHHHHH HATE

Here is an interesting adjective quirk that you probably aren’t even aware you are doing.

In English, adjectives seem to follow a specific order:

opinion - size - age - shape - color - origin - material - purpose - noun

If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.

I see authors sheepishly announcing books, or apologizing for good news.

Friends: we’re enduring an onslaught of censorship and bigotry. I am PROUD that you wrote anything. Please yell about what you're doing. Art is a fuel to keeps many of us going.
i feel like you should be allowed to talk about & promote your book for at least as long as it took you to write it

Writers-

If you are using Microsoft Word 365 and now have “CoPilot” showing up in your toolbar—that is AI.

My tech friend sent me the steps to turn off CoPilot on a Mac.

There are families who will never be able to come back from this devastation, and many of them were in generational homes, passed down from people who bought homes in the 1970sand 80's in Altadena. All of the fires are a tragedy, but especially for those who don't have the resources to rebuild.

LA is my home. The westside is my home. Santa Monica will always be my home. Feeling grateful, guilty, and helpless to be so far away. I don’t think I’ll have words for the devastation of our city for a long time. Below was my joyful beach visit just this past weekend.

I know this is old news but it’s fun [derogatory] to see several of them at once 🫠
Haven’t seen people talking about it here, but the reading tracker app Fable has been using GenAI with some mixed results.
