I gave my 13-year-old niece a book of Shakespearean insults I got at The Time Travel Mart in Echo Park. Now she & her 5-year-old brother are nonstop insulting their parents in iambic pentameter. This is the spirit of Christmas.

Husband managed to track down a region 1 compatible blu ray of Better Man for my Christmas. It was a giant marketing failure that persists into physical media, which breaks my heart. Yes, it's the monkey movie about a pop star Americans haven't heard of. It's also brilliant.

People keep telling me AI will take over my subtitling work. Y'all. AI gets confused by song lyrics, accents, colloquialisms and overlapping dialogue. And it always will, because it is not capable of actual analytical thought.

A reminder to the world as Star Trek Starfleet Academy is gearing up to launch: You can just choose not to watch it. You don't have to try to make like hell for young actors just to feel like your opinion matters.

It feels so weird to be asking people to crowdfund our weird little stunt show when everything is bad news all the time, but sometimes it feels like making cool stuff with our friends and paying them is the only truly great thing we have left in this town.
