Just deleted Twitter from my phone

For a couple years, an increasing amount of RWNJ stuff made my eyes roll … there was fun in baiting it, and there were (are) many fun and kind people still there

I talk a lot about AI and "male loneliness" as a lack of distress tolerance for the messy business of dealing with other humans, but the rejection (most noticeable in MAGAts and anti-vaxxers, but spreading to, sigh, everything) of the *idea of expertise* is a symptom of the same problem. (thread)
I hate the whole "listen to every day Americans instead of educated elites" crap but at the same time I do think we sometimes fail to acknowledge that a lot of the academic elites are actually full of shit too. There are plenty of PhDs out there who believe false and damaging shit.

How about business leaders first institute all the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry?

Went up to North Canterbury today, visited Gore Bay which is around the corner from the farm I grew up on. I have a painting of it on my wall.

I find it incredibly difficult to write about my Jewishness. I didn't want to write this, but I did.

We need to re-embrace complexity and nuance in thinking about and discussing the Jewish future.
Holding complexity amidst catastrophe
I didn't want to write this. I don't want to write this. I feel like I need to write something. I am writing this. I am not good at writing about my Jewish experience. I am still writing this, ei...

I wonder how many of the people calling for a Royal Commission into antisemitism in Australia realise how much calling one would undermine the legitimacy of the envoy and her report?

WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. You actually can’t make this up. Ford claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data.

Safe bike-lanes mean business.
Annex businesses tell Ford to back off Bloor bike lanes
Stores in the Annex say the Bloor bike lanes have been a big boost to business. As Michelle Mackey reports, the neighborhood's BIA wants the province to back off its new bill that could see the lanes ...

Australia’s gun laws have long been the envy of the world. They must remain so, especially after Bondi | Gideon Meyerowitz-Katz
As a public health expert and Jewish Australian, I urge our leaders to ensure gun legislation matches the world we live in

I cancelled my Age subscription yesterday. I can’t support this bizarre campaign that Nine is running.

What’s weird is if you look at the letters to the editor over the past week they’re almost all remarkably sane. The journalists are going on a path in opposition to both reality and their readers
