Unsolicited advice for anyone on Bluesky who wants to fight fascism in 2026 - don't stress about following big national accounts.

Instead, follow LOCAL groups and people who are doing actual work on the ground. Join them and do stuff right in your community. THAT'S where the real action is. ❤️💪

I just reread the musical theater trivia questions I wrote for my birthday some years ago and they were very good! Good job, past me!

(I kind of want to do it again.)

There’s a lot happening in this book that makes it not necessarily the most accessible comic of all time, but if it connects with you it’s an incredible piece of art about loving the art you love. Phonogram, and RB specifically, is genuinely one of my comfort rereads. 🖤🩶🤍
It's the 20th anniversary of Rue Britannia this year, which I'm sure I'll write about in some format. I don't recommend it often, as it's absolutely us in the garage, playing loud, and raw, raw, raw. But it's also a book which if it was the only comic I ever wrote, would have been fine to end on.
PHONOGRAM vol. 1 by @kierongillen.bsky.social , @mckelvie.bsky.social , & co. This was a reread. Hard to escape that in some ways this feels like the demo version of WicDiv. But it is also very raw in the same way. So many ideas they practically tear off the page. So much Manic Street Preachers.

I just had a dream that I was sitting in a sunny park with a friend when Florence Welch showed up and started singing wordlessly and dancing. People began appearing and joining in, then it became apparent the lyrics were Zohran Mamdani’s name.

It’s nice to know my subconscious can still hold hope.

I always forget that Spike Lee opens and closes Inside Man with "Chaiyya Chaiyya.” I’m glad it’s not played during the movie, because the Dil Se scene is too strong to really think about anything else once you’re hearing it.

why? so Trump can lie again?

Started my year sitting outside in the pouring rain singing opera to the crows. I honestly can’t recommend it enough!

There’s a possibly new person at my regular pharmacy who looks wildly like Hannah Gadsby. To the point that I kind of don’t want to hear them talking, because any accent other than Australian might be too jarring.

The nice thing about being an adult on Christmas is that you don’t have to get up early…

Which is great if you accidentally hyperfocused on decorating cookies until 2am on Christmas Eve.

Amazing how every year I forget I’m allergic to pine needles until I’m actively carrying garlands and breaking out in a rash.

Went to go see the pro shot of Merrily We Roll Along last night and was reminded that it’s such a genius show. The way all the repeated musical themes sound like reprises the FIRST time you hear them in the backwards narrative order is just spectacular!

Thoroughly enjoyed playing Spot the LotR References in Wake Up Dead Man. Definite 3, possibly 5. Very fun replacement for Spot the Sondheim References in the first two films.

I also enjoyed the mystery, etc.

TFW you’re watching Ragtime and youtube interrupts Emma Goldman’s scene with a Target ad. It’s so on the nose.

Wildlife breakfast highlights:

1. Got to watch a crow use a stick as a grooming tool.

2. 40 gabbling geese kept flying around overhead in formations.

3. I was the playing “No One Mourns the Wicked” and a dove, some sparrows, and a chickadee landed next to me to listen to the Glinda high notes.

Starting my morning singing “I’m Not That Squirrel” to the scruffy squirrel in my backyard who gets picked on by the others. Very normal behavior.

Sometimes I see people waiting for the train, just standing still on the platform. So unthinkable to me to not be bouncing or rocking or fidgeting while I wait.
