As you say, King 'Ed' was a former King, having abdicated, and not on official state business sanctioned by UK government. Here's hoping Americans reign him in themselves and then the rest of us won't have to play 'diplomacy games' for our survival. Thanks.

It's one thing to have an opinion, it's another being the Government of a nation dealing with the reality of a rogue president in charge of THE World superpower with whom our very security and safety is tied. Until we have disentangled our military systems from USA we need to be smart.

It may be used to nudge Trump to harsher sanctions against Russia or such like. These visits combine soft power with back room discussions. We are not a super power but Trump is impressed by monarchy. It makes me sick, but if it works we should try to keep the US close until the mid-terms.

That's really insulting. I'm sure you would object if I called pro independence folk stupid and assumed they all intend on voting for 1 party. Rude and divisive. I desperately wish voters would reject Reform but insulting them won't change their minds.. we surely learned that during Brexit?

Rejoining Erasmus is a real opportunity to start repairing the disastrous Conservative Brexit deal.
However it must be a first step on a clear roadmap to a closer relationship with Europe. Starting with negotiating a bespoke UK-EU customs union, and committing to a youth mobility scheme.
