Truth. This is why they are dismantling the universities.
Walz: I think they hate public education because it’s easier to run an authoritarian government if you don’t have a population that knows.

If you still harbored any doubt that President Trump’s ongoing attack on Columbia University – a private institution – is drawn straight from the authoritarian playbook, then the latest development should be clarifying.

No. The Medicaid portals were shut down because the OMB demanded they be. They’re only back up because of the outcry. I’d tell you to stop lying but we know that’s a feature of this administration.

A very real concern and not limited to the sciences. We should all be very worried about the fate of history and political science departments outside select Ivies. Will professors/students be able to study important issue that put today’s geopolitical events in context?
At the end of interviews, I ask researchers if they're working on anything else that should be on my radar. Keep thinking about all the future work that won't make my radar bc it won't get pursued. How will a climate of fear, real or imagined, shift priorities? What knowledge do we lose out on?

I am still struggling with why it requires two people. I mean, geez, you want efficiency, ask a working mom.
We keep saying this and it really seems no one is listening.
I am gonna repeat this here as often as needed.

The "Department of Government Efficiency" is not a department. To make a whole new cabinet level department requires an act of Congress.

This. Story.
Two weeks after the election, a gathering in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, commemorated Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 address. The Lincoln scholar who recited the 16th president's words said the speech felt “not like a relic from the past, but a prayer for the future.”

Two weeks after the election, a gathering in Gettysburg commemorated Lincoln’s address, 272 words that have come to epitomize what it means to be presidential.

This is what I’ve been talking about, trying to be thoughtful about when to be outraged. It’s going to be a very long and very dark four years. Sometimes letting republicans fight with each other is going to be the only way.
