Look, none of this was my idea, but here we are.

They said there'd be snacks. Where are the snacks?

I've started editing the images from Nepal. This is Pashupatinath, the Hindu funerary temple in Kathmandu. The dead are cremated at the riverside and their ashes placed in the Bhagmati River, which eventually flows into the Ganges.

It's pretty rare for someone to get a photo of me I'm not aware of, and with my own camera at that. Anyhow, this is me, Fat Thor, sitting in a small tea shop in Ilam this past October.

To my dad, uncles, great-uncles, brother-in-law, niece, and cousins, all who served in conflicts from World War I to Sarajevo, Kuwait, and beyond: To those I never had the chance to meet, to those who made it home, and to those whose families will wait for them forever, my humble thanks.

Who else is up?

Opinion pieces in the NYT have become little more than the generally privileged writer parting their gluteus maximumus and showing the world their anus, as though it were something special to be marvelled at and that no one else has. The paper edition makes for an okay fish wrapper still though.
@nytimes.com has TWO—yes two—opinion pieces today BOTH titled “Mamdani’s Victory is Less Significant Than You Think.” And they both have the same coauthor.

Yeah. We get it NYT. You are officially the paper of retrograde thinking.

People are wondering what has happened to Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Nothing.

She has always been an opportunist with no moral convictions. She now wants a higher office and saw the writing on the wall Tuesday evening.

Feet on the ground in Vancouver again. Nice to be able to drink the water again.
First comfortable bed in a month. First truly hot shower in a month. Picked up the Kathmandu cough, again. Good to be home in a sad way.

Travel advice: if you know you're going to have a long stopover in Hong Kong you might want to book a sleeping room at Refreshhh by Aerotel, not "cheap" but a lot nicer than kicking around in a lounge. Now, if you're traveling business class this isn't a problem, but who does that on their own dime?

19 hour layover in Hong Kong - no entry visa for China so I can't leave the airport. Been lounge surfing and managed to get a sleep pod for a few hours of much needed sleep.

There has to be a better way to get to Nepal and back than going thru Hong Kong. Singapore, maybe?

Hey @sonycamera.bsky.social ,

I wanted to let you know that as a recent convert to the A7 and now FX ecosystems that after a solid month of shooting in Nepal, over trails, jeep rides that would shake organs loose to torrential rains, that the FX2 has been an absolute unit throughout the journey.

As for Dick Cheney shuffling off this mortal coil, in the words of Oscar Wilde, "Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go."

The glowing eulogies for this monster are nauseating. Stop polishing the worm-infested turd that is his legacy.

This is me sporting my covid fat layer, terribly out of shape and almost 65. Life gets weird, you just have to ride it out so you can see where it leads. In my case, it leads back to daily walks, the spin cycle, the gym and a high protein, log carb calorie restricted diet... I don't wanna be Santa!
