The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP.
Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP.
The people who need help are not the problem.
It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

If this is what it took for you to be pushed into fascism you were probably already there

The more ways a user can use your software, the more ways you need to figure out how to keep users from killing themselves with it.
AI companies want their software to be useful for everything from automating email replies to psychotherapy to designing submarines.
It's a cookbook for disaster.

Firing and demoralizing feminized jobs as enemies of the state while brazenly bribing men with violent jobs that almost instantly puts them into the middle of middle class is very basic gendered warfare. Fulfilling the manosphere’s promise.
It is insane to me that the government can find money to pay ICE agents increasingly larger sums of money, yet teachers have to buy their own pencils.

the thing everyone is going to have to accept is that the post-trump period, whenever it comes, will not and cannot be a project of national unity, it must be a project of partisan project of renewal, in the same way that reconstruction and the new deal were partisan projects of renewal.

my hottest educational take is that schools should actively, non-punitively teach students how to admit when they don't know something, aren't sure or have made a mistake, with various teaching frameworks adapted to support this ideal, because people who can't admit fault are breaking the world

“I Have Lost Everything”: The Toll of Cities’ Homeless Sweeps
Cities often take belongings — including important documents and irreplaceable mementos — when they conduct sweeps of homeless encampments. ProPublica gave notecards to people across the country so…

Young people SHOULD “have it easier” than you did. I’m sorry you got the strap up hill both ways and paid your debts with pounds of flesh, but the reason we work for progress is to make growing up and growing old gentler, easier, kinder, freer. Struggle isn’t necessary in a healthy society.

ppl getting angry at this but he's talking alliances and he's 100% right- you cannot trust a country where every 4 yrs the foreign policy does a complete 180 & tears up treaties and reneges on deals and withholds payments because some sheep farmers in Wisconsin think too many black women have jobs
America is over. There is no coming back from this.
If we're lucky maybe we claw back some small-l liberalism for our daily lives. But even that might be too much to hope for.
The rest of the world has to move on from us.
They now know that the American people can't be trusted.
They're right.

Thing about gov workers is we are beat over the head with learning how to critically read documents, get everything in writing, trust no one, we get yelled at by the public all the time, ethics trainings constantly, like...? You are gonna have to try harder.
New — I did a brief history of the ‘Fork in the Road’ email to show how Musk screwed up by treating federal workers like fucking idiots, and how the pressure to resign is about breaking morale more than culling the workforce.
How Elon Musk forked up his mass resignation plan
Incompetence and desperation are a bad combination.
