A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Apparently some US Republican lawmakers have called for the incarceration of transgender people. We are living in hell. I don’t believe Trump & Farage are manipulating people through lies and gnarled theories. I believe people know just how evil they are & they like it. Hell indeed

In case you were wondering why the incorrect rumor of “trans activist” and “fascist symbols” on ammo started, it’s because arrows and initials are common ways manufacturers stamp ammo.

Including “TRN” the ironsight and a direction broad arrow:

The Wall Street Journal is now walking back its earlier reporting that "transgender ideology" messages were found on the shooter's ammunition.

But it's too late. That story is all around the country and the world. Most who have read it will not see the update.

Thanks, WSJ.

I wrote about what I think is a genuinely revealing document of elite depravity and impunity. It is shocking and sickening. But it's also a crucial moment. We're about to see what happens when conspiracy theorists actually get what they asked for but it turns out not to be what they want.
You Really Need to See Epstein’s Birthday Book for Yourself
This time, the conspiracy theorists were right.

Then he'll have a data conversion problem. If he tries to eliminate the option, he won't know which to set: male or female

She reminds me of JKR in the way her transphobia grows more and more vicious over time. More spiteful, more unbridled: it's like a drug to these people.

About sixth of the public hold extreme/toxic views on mass deportations even beyond asylum.

This is not larger than a decade ago. Elites are shifting *much* more than the public (which is liberalising longterm & frustrated about asylum/boats in the short-term).
About a sixth of the public endorse very extreme views on making legal/settled migrants leave & then follow up on the specifics. (This overlaps with the 8% who say they support violence in protests & liked the riots, so it should be challenged, not indulged)

Trump crows because European leaders have accompanied Zelenskyy. He is delusional enough to believe they have come to honour him. They have come because they know he is a sick, depraved, stupid grandiose infant who must be controlled.

Where to start…
A startling example of projection…
An authoritarian christofascist, racist regime judges the UK and finds it wanting.
And our govt meekly apes the far right while Tory politicians wine and dine Vance because they’re all in this together.
Profiteering from prejudice. Repulsive.

Transmisogyny is just this bizarre clusterfuck where people treat you like a woman, in that they talk over you, call you overly emotional, sexualise you, judge you harshly on how well you embody femininity, disbelieve you when you say you've been mistreated, all the while insisting that you're a man

The moment I saw that "trans bra" M & S story I sensed it was nonsense.

Seconds later, having read the Telegraph piece I knew it was worse than that. It was deliberate hate mongering completely devoid of evidence, names and facts.

Superb job of debunking it here

Sad this evening. It’s politics I think. At times I read replies to perfectly clear posts and these replies are thickets of confusion, fragmented, paranoid, full of villainies as Hamlet says. Especially on the right I must say. The absence of ethics & love of cruelty get me down.

This Epstein matter intrigues me because paranoia IS projection. For ages the MAGA lot have accused their perceived foes of practising child sexual abuse. Are they realising at last that the man they consider a sterling almost mythic figure is in fact the ickiest of all?

I inadvertently heard bits of the press conference btwn Trump and that toadying Rutte. Trump described Gaza as prime waterfront property & the worst real estate deal in history. Mainly I came away with a strong sense of his sickness. It’s like a miasma or an acrid smell: you can feel it.
